I have never in all my life experienced service like this, no rating available by Google will do this poor excuse of a takeout restaurant any justice. It is truly a shame that negative ratings are not an option, let alone a score of zero. I am truly amazed at how these workers are certified to handle food, or even work around a kitchen. I ordered two vegetarian burgers without cheese and garlic aioli, when they came out though, they were rife of the two, thankfully the worker at the counter noticed that the meal did not match what I had ordered on the receipt and immediately offered to "prepare two new ones". This actually entailed scraping off the melted cheese with a butter knife and re assembling the burger; the "chef" also had the audacity to do all this in plain view through the kitchen window. When I was called over to collect my burgers a second time the fillings were still lathered in garlic aioli, instead of the chef acknowledging their "mistake" ("mistake" being a euphemism for blatant laziness and disregard to potential allergens) they simply claimed that what seemed to be the garlic aioli was infact guacamole, despite there being no mention of the sort in the burger's description. I then told the worker at the counter that if she knew that the sauce was infact garlic aioli to please let me know as I am intolerant to egg, to which she gave no reply but rather an uneasy look. I took the burgers back to my table and removed the top bun to see if the sauce the chef claimed to be guacamole was actually genuine. Unsurprisingly a smidgeon of the sauce tasted like garlic and parsley, the worker at the counter and chef continued to coyly peer over to our table, when they realised we had called their bluff the worker then signalled us over to which she said again that she'd prepare two new burgers. I then asked if the guacamole had any garlic in it to which I was given no reply. I was then called over a third time to collect the two "new" burgers and again a knife had been used to scrape off the aioli. The chef actually had the nerve to scrape the aioli off the surfaces of the eggplant slices (used as the filling) instead of preparing a new burger, absolutely no regard was given to the customer's allergies. A poor job was done as well as there were still smears and in some spots globules of the garlic aioli across the bun and eggplant filling. I was then able to speak with the chef about the burgers, she also gave no reply when asked about the use of garlic in the guacamole and lied about scraping the aioli off the surfaces of the fillings of the burger. At this point, I had had enough and simply told the worker to take back the burgers. I no longer wanted to deal with this abhorent excuse of a chef, I did not even want a refund, hopefully the twenty odd dollars I spent on the meal for my partner and I will go towards some proper food preparation training and improve on the $2 dollar backdoor entry certification held by this chef. Very little if any professionalism...
Read moreThe latest renovations have spruced up Roselands Central, including the upstairs food court with a flurry of new cuisines and restaurants. Spoiled for choice, I narrowed it down to the most affordable being the Portuguese chicken burger with chips for just $10.99 at Burger & Co.
Upon unwrapping the burger, I immediately noticed the blackened, wilted lettuce leaves slumped out of the buns which perturbed me. In no circumstance should you be serving old ingredients but what audacity to have it hanging out on the burger and think the customer will overlook it! The appearance of the burger is quintessential in anticipating the first bite and the layers of flavour to follow. So if we take out the rotting lettuce, what can be seen from the naked eye is a huge piece of tomato and American cheese in between sesame seed buns. The only question remains: Where's the meat?
As predicted, the first bite had everything but chicken and I was left chewing on a vegetable sandwich. Contrary to the lettuce, the tomatoes were fresh and uplifted the burger with a juicy crunch. Believe me, the crunch was very needed among the gooey, sharp-tasting cheese and the deluge of Portuguese sauce that made the bun soggy. It's a shame that the integrity of the burger buns were ruined because they were originally bouncy with aromatic, buttered sides. Second bite and I finally hit the chicken though it was a total letdown with how dry and bland it was. Only the overpowering gush of spicy Portuguese sauce could conceal the pale chicken at the expense of everything else being dampened.
The number of fries on the side was much more substantial than the burger, just to fill you up from the disappointing emptiness after the burger. While I enjoyed the zing of the lemon pepper seasoning, the fries themselves were mushy in the inside and lacking a thorough crunch.
I guess it makes sense that I would get the cheapest quality from...
Read moreI was looking forward to having a decent burger for lunch and came across burgers & co. There was a nice burger with some fried calamari rings on a nice wooden board for display which looked delicious, but the actual burger was not unfortunately. The burger with tasted average but the size was decent enough to make you full. Manu’s favourite saying from MKR, ‘where is the sauce?’ even there was sauce, there wasn’t enough and flavour which made the beef patty dry. Substituting it with mustard or tomato sauce isn’t going to make the burger tastier, but the fries were nice. As a price point, all burgers are under $10 which is reasonable with optional meal for an extra $4.90 which includes a choice of 🍟/ 🥗& 🥤, I thought was expensive. Their service is horrible with one staff serving customer and a two people making the burgers. They did not ask whether I wanted fries or salad, they assumed fries so that was a bit unprofessional. The wait time was horrendous, approximately 10-15 minute wait time, which should have really taken 5-10 mins max for a not so...
