Cafe Bondi — Restaurant in Sydney

Only giving it two stars because I’ve been here before and liked it.

But today I went for breakfast and to say I was disappointed is a massive understatement.

I ordered the brekky wrap, which according to the menu, comes with "scrambled egg, spinach, crispy bacon, sriracha mayo and cheese". It came out about 10 mins after we ordered, which was great… but when I went to bite into it, I could immediately tell the bacon was not only NOT crispy, like the menu specified but it was extremely undercooked.

I’m not too picky with food but this bacon looked like it had just come off a pig. It was so repulsive that I had to pick the entire lot of it out of the wrap. Not only that but upon doing this, I realised that there was no cheese or sriracha mayo in my wrap either. So essentially, I paid $16.50 for a wrap with some egg and spinach.

Probably won’t...

Would I come to eat here again? No. The food looks good, but the eating experience is not as great. I had scrambled eggs on a bread - the bread was so soggy, somebody should have thought about the excess moisture that the eggs will release and that the bread will absorb it all.. not a pleasant experience. The table next to us ordered açai bowls - it looked great but the pile of açai was so terribly served, it immediately crashed on a table when the server put it down. Also - I sat on a fabric bench - after sitting on it for a few minutes, I realized my jeans are getting wet because the bench is completely wet because of God-knows-what. Lastly, it was so loud, we could hardly hear each other...

This cafe is so cute and just out of the hectic part of Bondi. I was excited to try the gluten free French toast (I am celiac) - unfortunately it is actually regular bread unless you specify - but the menu was confusing. I ended up eating about three big bites before having a hunch that the gf bread was too good to be true. I clarified with the waitress that it should have said gfo (option) on the menu, not just gf. They apologized and made me a new gf version immediately but I still got glutened. 😔

My family enjoyed their meals and the coffees were great. The view from the corner seat is also wonderful.
