Jacks North Bondi — Restaurant in Sydney

First time local, came down to get a quick takeaway coffee because I recently sold my coffee machine. I really love the concept behind bringing your own mug but it makes it hard to support when bringing your own mug isn’t reflected in the price (sunday coffee was still $5.59) and when it’s only filled halfway? Could have added a bit more milk.

Barista wasn’t friendly at all and manager had a loud voice too - heard they recently got a new team. Also had met the owner at our local grocery store when she was being rude to someone who was doing a pop-up (snobby and announcing herself as the owner). Lol

Shame, would really love to support but will grab a cheaper and friendlier coffee elsewhere....

What's changed the vibe? Dudes. I love dudes. I am one. But this place became a fixture with locals with an all female crew. Why buy a place for its reputation and then flip the team completely? The newbies are fine, but in a blokey way. It just feels different. Not sure if it's the coffee or barista, but the coffee is now good, not great. I've not yet reviewed this, my local, for about a decade. I always loved the coffee, but kinda kept it to myself. Now, in the hands of new owners, I'm ready after my third visit. The food offer is elevated, and first tastes are promising. Chances are, I'll update this over summer and let you know...

One of the great cafes in Bondi, the morning sun will inspire you for the day ahead. A true community focused space and they deserve a 5 star review. The local swimming clubs flock to this place like a pack of seagulls treating a coffee like a hot chip. Don’t let that deter you. I once saw Sarah Wilson here talking about the climate and it doesn’t get any more Bondi than that. I spent the morning here having my strong flat white in one of their odd shaped mugs the morning Trump got sworn out of office. For this reason bRU will always hold a special place...
