Saturday 3rd May, 2025 Lunch - between 12:30pm - 1:30pm Had the roast duck with wonton and egg noodles in plate (soup separate)
It's my first time trying here, I have to say the following:- food had good taste or just right amount of flavour. There's no "wow" factor. But still good though. It's just that I've had better elsewhere
abit expensive for the portions they give. Had 4 wontons when they usually serve 6-8 wontons at other places. And my roast duck only had like 4 pieces!!! The rest were noodles with just very tiny amount of choy sum (Chinese veges) Abit of a disappointment, and overcharged the price for the portions they give.
taro with saga or sago was ok. Could have more taro flavour though. Tastes more like milk with hint of taro. They need more taro flavour.
dining room is very cramped, they need to space out the tables. It's better if they had tables going along the walls and leave the middle section empty. It gives more room for both waitstaffs and customers to walk around. Since it's cramped space, I had few times where other customers bump into my arm when I was about to have food in my mouth when holding chopsticks. LUCKILY IT WASN'T A STEAK KNIFE or any other knife for that matter!!! Could've gotten injured.
as for service, the waitstaffs seems to be in a rush. Service wasn't bad, but I wouldn't say it's good either. So pretty average in my opinion.
For those who haven't tried, it's still worth trying if you're willing to pay the prices shown on the menu. But don't be fooled when you stand in their front entrance, seeing how small the shop is. They have more tables upstairs. All you have to do is wait and tell the staffs how many people and they will guide you whether if you're dining downstairs or upstairs.
Location is opposite HSBC bank towards Westfield's entrance. A big sign saying CANTON NOODLE HOUSE in red. Easiest to park at...
Read moreOn Sat 3 Feb, my wife, our 10-month old baby, and I, went into the eatery for a late lunch. There were no other patrons on the ground floor dining area. We were seated by the owner (female who looked to be in her 50s). She brought out a metal teapot, in which we placed chopsticks and spoons to be sanitised prior to eating with them. She came to take the order, and started getting angry with us about the fact the we placed the utensils in the metal teapot. She said that they never wash the metal teapots and we should, therefore, never place utensils in them. As though telling us once was not enough, she repeatedly lectured us loudly with all kinds of angry tonalities in front of our 10-month old, and started to involve her co-workers (I gather it was her husband and the cook). She lectured us angrily in the Cantonese language for quite a few minutes. You can imagine how uncomfortable and disturbed we felt by the time she finished her unnecessary ranting. I responded by telling her that we will not be eating nor returning to her eatery ever. We had a similar experience in Hong Kong in 2019. It is probably an issue with the older generation of unlearned people, lacking emotional intelligence and empathy...
Read moreWe got takeaway and as usual, this was a great meal. Canton Noodle House is our food option of choice when looking for "Chinese Food". The options makes my partner from Hong Kong very happy every time.
This time we got special fried rice (for me, the gweilo), salted fish fried rice and crispy soft shell crab.
The soft shell crab for takeaway is served without a cover which is amazing, it means the soft shell crab stayed crispy and it is honestly one of the best you can get and significantly cheaper than other places.
The salted fish fried rice is excellent. One of my favourite fried rice dishes. The flavour combination is perfect with adequate saltiness and umami provided by the fish.
Special fried rice Is special fried rice - a comfort food but nothing to write about (it's still great!)
Great prices and great food as always...
