Edited: Responded to the owner reply! (And to the public who are still considering to check out this restaurant) It’s ridiculous that you are trying to defend yourself by LYING to the public and pretending like you’ve DONE your part as a business owner by explaining to the customer about the dish. You even blame us, the customer, for ordering something that we actually KNOW what we are ordering. We ordered from the Chinese menu, the dish that we ordered is a very COMMON dish, I guess explanation is not needed as YOU AND ME knows what it should be! In fact, when we ordered the dish, you DID advise that the dish WILL BE spicy, but it turned out that it was NOT SPICY AT ALL (I guess the spiciness and flavour has been diluted by all the water you added into the dish!). You DID NOT mention about the cooking way or the dish ingredients at all! (So, DO NOT LIE!) It supposed to be a dry dish and turned out to be a ‘soup’ kind of dish. I should’ve taken a picture of the dish to show the public how ridiculous it was. If we’ve been advised that you are not serving authentic Cantonese food, or at least some of the dishes were not authentic e.g. 雞煲, we might’ve ordered something else from the menu! It was a true disappointment and we do hear nice words from friends about your food. The way you handle this is very poor and disappointing. If the kitchen has made a mistake, rectify it. Defend yourself by lying to the public? This is not the way it supposed to be.
To other potential viewers, do order to your own responsibility. To viewers with specifically Cantonese background, do not use your common sense when ordering food here as some of the dishes might not be authentic. Also, do check with the staff or owner how they cook their food before you order. Things might not turn out as what you...
Read moreCame into this restaurant last night to ask about their seafood prices as we were looking for a place to eat to celebrate my birthday. The waiter recommended the ginger and shallot lobster with noodles. He took our order then we were asked to pay at the cashier. I questioned the cashier (who I think is the manager) do we pay before eating because normally it's pay after eating, and he replied yes please pay beforehand. We then sat down at a table. Waiters came and asked if we wanted something to drink and to sign into their venue check-in website. When our food came out, it was in a takeaway container. I told the waitress we were eating in. Then we got rudely told by another waiter that we can't eat in because they were completely booked out! The restaurant was only half full!
So the issues were: 1. We should have been informed as soon as we entered the restaurant that we can't eat in because the restaurant was booked out. 2. When we ordered, the waiter did not ask if we were taking away or eating in. He wrongly assumed we were taking away. 3. The staff did not try to rectify their mistake even after I told them we wanted to dine in and that we already signed into their check-in.
As a result of not being able to dine in and having to take the food home to eat, it ruined our plans for the rest of the evening (we had planned to look around Hurstville's shops after dinner to get a birthday cake). I felt very badly treated as a customer as I pretty much got kicked out the restaurant after having already paid and seated. I've come to this restaurant a number of times over the years but due to last night's terrible customer service I would not recommend this...
Read moreMy experience with Hurstville Chinese Restaurant's takeaway service was extremely disappointing. I had ordered the Deep Fried Spare Ribs with Salt & Pepper, but instead, I was given Salt and Pepper Squid. (Along with other items, total $230)
It was frustrating to receive the wrong dish, especially since it wasn't even a substitute for the one I had ordered. Worth a mention is also the unseasoned food, spring rolls are bland, the plum sauce was the only good taste, Mongolian beef had flavour and the pipi’s had more of an ocean flavour than I personally could palate. Additionally, the meal was still very expensive, which only added to my disappointment.
Unfortunately, Hurstville Chinese Restaurant failed to meet basic expectations. It's clear that they have serious issues with accuracy and customer service, and I wouldn't recommend their takeaway service to anyone.
Overall, my experience with Hurstville Chinese Restaurant was a letdown, and I would advise other customers to look for other options in the area. There are plenty of other restaurants that offer better quality food and service, and that take their customers'...
