I went to tavern on Thursday for lunch before going i saw a special in the negotiator the add read THURS RUMP 200g $15.00 so when i went to the bar to order my meal i showed the manager the add .He stated this only apply s to dinner he pointed in the direction of a wall that showed i similar add stating Thursday dinner i said it didn't state that on this add and would not honor deal so all our group will not be going back to castle hill tavern. Well done to the manager that has now lost 8 to 10 customers. In response to owners comments, I am aware VOUCHERS have scissor cutout template. I was referring to your ADVERTISEMENT, (as I CLEARLY STATED in my comment) which CLEARLY says "THURS RUMP" "$15.00", there is NO MENTION of this being for Thursday evening ONLY. The only way to discover this is an "Evening only offer" is to see Poster in Tavern. I feel this advert is extremely miss-leading designed to get people into Tavern, where they will then end up buying something else and spending more money than they intended. If you are going to respond to this comment please ensure you respond to my "ACTUAL" complaint. Your response DID NOT answer MY complaint as I never said I had a voucher I only referred to the ADVERT!

Visited Castle Hill Tavern on a Friday May evening. Families with young children and 3 generations were sitting together which was nice to see. The crowd of people sat outside which left the bar area inside quite quiet! The bar area has a range of seating, taller and regular tables. Spacious seating and upgraded amenities. The food was quite good for pub category food. Ordered the Grazier slow-cooked Beef Pie which was delectable. Tender chunks of beef in the pie with a side of mash potatoes, onion rings, topped with gravy and green peas for colour contrast 🤤. The tomato relish flavour with the pie was a perfect match. Also ordered the Tav cheeseburger🍔 which came with a side of crunchy fries, asked for sweet chilli sauce for dipping 😊. Was able to sit and do work uninterrupted!

If you have accumulated quite a few tickets for the 3rd and final meat tray raffle and wonder 10-12 minutes after 7pm when the draw should have been announced but nothing has happened and ask a staff member when the draw will be but tells me it has been „drawn“ when it actually never happened and later see a possible boyfriend or whatever favourite person walked out of the pub with the meat tray then I personally wonder why, what is going on here. I’d like to see upper management to have a closer look at their employees way of actions in this regard. Very disappointing to say the least. 25.9.24

Good options on the menu. We came for lunch on Monday. They had lunch specials on weekdays and senior classics 7 days a week. There were other specials for example Monday nights all meals under $28 are $15.

The two seniors who were dining with me ordered a fish and chips and chicken schnitzel, chips and gravy. I ordered the chicken schnitzel lunch special which appears to be identical except seniors get a discounted price.

This is a bistro so you order and pay at the counter and you get a buzzer for your meal. I was told gravy does not come with the schnitzel and was charged extra for it. Fair enough....I have no problem paying for something if it doesn't come with it.

Went back to the table and looked at the menu and it was very clear that the girl at the counter made a mistake as gravy is included in the meal. Went back and asked her and she was so rude!!! She told me it was only a couple of dollars in a sarcastic tone. That is not the point is it??? Whether it is $1 or $50, if you made a mistake, apologise and refund the money to the customer. That's all. You don't have to say anything else! And why should a customer pay extra for something that is already included in the meal?!

Next were the meals. I would rate the meals very average. The fish tasted like the frozen variety and the schnitzel was oily on the outside, dry and tough inside. The meals were inconsistent. The seniors' meals came with salad eventhough it wasn't suppose to and my schnitzel had no salad and the whole meal looked like it was just thrown on the plate. AND I also got a garlic cream sauce instead of gravy because 'apparently' that was what I ordered! They finally changed it to gravy.

By then I have lost my appetite from all the cumulated issues. This place is a thumbs down for me. That girl behind the cash register needs to improve...

Went to tav tonight for my birthday with son, his partner and 1yo after a very long time having not been there for a meal. Of the many choices in the hills this should not have been ours tonight. This is not a family friendly venue. Meal was very very average. We were charged a 10% surcharge for a public holiday when Easter Saturday is not. Sunday and Monday yes but not Saturday. Needs a completely reprinted menu by law which indicates the 10% increase. Poor form considering we were the only family in the place. Table very sticky and dirty. It needed a spray and wipe/sanitiser about 20 years ago. Daughter wanted to change baby and was told there was no change facility?? In this day and age?! Surely not. No child playground to distract a 1 yo...what happened to that and why is it replaced with smokers section? My husband cleared the table as not a living soul came near us to do so or to pick up glasses. Stretched it really asking for a candle for my cake I suppose!! This facility relies entirely on the skill of the chef which across the decades has varied considerably. Hasn’t been good this decade at all. Less than good now. The photos tell lies as the I’ve had better food in a fish and chip shop. Hollandaise sauce in a squirt bottle on everything??!! The whole experience was very very disappointing except for bar staff -3 people who together did my drink order with smiles. Shame they couldn’t cleanse and sanitise the tables too. Won’t be rushing back and don’t recommend that anyone with any sense of today’s expectations does until there is an improve in the family friendly facility, cleanliness and food quality 2018 not 1975. Perhaps knocking it down would be the best option on the cards...

Visited this pub last night and I must say, it was a highly disappointing experience. The service was nothing short of terrible, and I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, my party and I were excited to enjoy a nice meal. However, our excitement quickly turned into frustration as we waited an astonishing 30 minutes for our food to arrive. At that point, we decided to check with the waitress for an update, and she casually mentioned that it would be ready in 5-7 minutes.

10 minutes later, we approached the waitress again, only to be given yet another time estimate of 7 more minutes. To our disbelief, even after waiting for a full hour, our food still hadn't been served, while other patrons around us were already enjoying their meals.

Frustrated, we decided to express our dissatisfaction to the staff. The manager, who finally came over, told us that he had been busy washing dishes and tried to shift the blame onto the kitchen staff. This complete lack of accountability and customer service was truly disappointing.

As a customer, I expect reasonable waiting times and honest communication from the restaurant staff. Unfortunately, this place failed to meet such a basic...
