I had a very disappointing experience at Chawpatee, Harris park after trying their Aloo Tikki Chaat and Vada Pav. Both items were overwhelmingly spicy, to the point where it was difficult to enjoy any of the actual flavors. It wasn't the kind of well-balanced, flavorful heat you expect from good Indian street food – it was just excessive and harsh. The Aloo Tikki itself was particularly bad; it was undercooked on the inside, lacking the crispiness and proper texture that makes a good tikki enjoyable. Biting into it felt like eating raw potato mix, which was very unappetizing. The Vada Pav wasn’t any better – the vada was bland yet spicy in a way that burned without delivering any depth of flavor, and the pav (bun) was dry and didn’t complement the filling at all. Overall, both items felt rushed and poorly prepared. Given the popularity of these classic snacks, I expected much better. Unfortunately, this visit left me very unsatisfied, and I wouldn’t recommend either of these dishes unless the restaurant seriously improves their quality and...
Read moreThis place has potential, but it’s a classic case of a family running a restaurant with a menu that is far too big for them to manage. The Chole Bhature was not tasty - bhature was too thick and the chole lacked any real depth of flavour. We also got a Maggie Masala for our little one and honestly this was just a rip off! $8 for something that actually tastes better if you make it yourself at home. The last dish we ordered was a Ragda Pattice, and they ended up mixing the chole shown in this photo with the potato pattice. Again, such a letdown. Pattice was dry and hard inside and the flavour was non-existent.
This place looks enticing due to the outdoor seating and extensive menu, but if you’re going to eat any of these dishes in Harris park you can easily just go to ANY other restaurant in the area and get a better tasting food!
Hope this review helps others make a more informed choice. We will not be back and...
Read moreThought I’d try out a new place, biggest mistake ever! If you think to try this ? Think again! We ordered the fried rice and Manchurian gravy. The fried rice felt like they were literally deep fried, filled with oil, long strands of uncut/overcooked veggies. Idk how you can manage to lose the basic taste of rice, but they did it! The Manchurian felt like a ball of dough thrown in a flavourless mixture of tar. You think you escaped the long uncut veggies? Nope, it’s there too, haunting your meals to your dreams.
Safe to say, only a few bites of this majestic food were consumed before they met their bitter end 🗑️🚮. Oh try throwing that away in front of their staff, watch the most judgmental pair of eyes hunt you down. Don’t be fooled by the amount of people “trying something new”...
