CLEM'S — Restaurant in Sydney

I was famished as I didn’t have dinner on a Saturday evening. Came here to get a quick one as my friend who lives in Newtown claimed it’s the best chicken shop in the area.

They didn’t have much left on the display counter and it took me a while to make up my mind what to eat, was about to leave to be honest as the they only had roast chicken, some fried chicken pieces that looked unappealing to me, scattered veggie (mushrooms and potatoes left).

I had a good look on the menu a few times and was amazed at how good the pricing of the dinner meals were, plus I saw a consistent flow of customers coming in for the food.

I went for the small meal as I didn’t wanna feel heavy from late dinner. I was surprised at how big and generous the portion was given the small size. I went for fried chicken and mushrooms as I couldn’t stomach a quarter chicken even though I preferred it. The server would fill the takeout box to the brim even though there’s hardly any fried chicken pieces left, just chuck in more mushrooms for me.

Even though the fried chicken pieces weren’t warm by the time I ate them, I could still taste the juiciness of it and the level of saltiness was just to my liking. It made me crave for more though it’s not crispy. I believe they’d taste like heaven when they’re served hot. Even the mushrooms didn’t fail to impress me. Not sure if it’s because I was famished and everything tasted good to me but I’d definitely come back for some...

Clem’s - A Clucking Great Experience!

A soon as you walk through the door you’ll understand why Clem’s has lasted since 1982. When we think Charcoal Chicken, service is only an after-thought however, Clem’s had changed that for me. One step in and we were greeted by the warmest and friendliest staff! Generous with the attention, they make sure that you are attended to but give you just the right amount of space to make the hard decision of Fried or Roast and deciding out of the many sides/salads what to choose! But hey! Have all by all means!

As great as the service, the food was just as amazing! Each to their own when it comes to reviews however how I like to see it is that the taste:quantity:price ratio makes it all the more better. Generous with the portions - for $14 (in the aluminium container) you can fill it with as many or as little sides as you desire but always filled to the brim (we chose 5 sides he he he). Taste - We had the whole roast chicken with stuffing ($16) and it was great. Flavourful, juicy and the breast was not dry! The sides complimented the chicken well however with that many heavy sides (potatoes), I would recommend a side of salad as it refreshes you palate as you continue to devour the massive meal in front of you.

Get clems every week for my main meals being an interstate truck driver sometimes hard to get a good homemade meal so clems has been my go to week after week when I'm on the road the order I got today however was not something to rave about but the total denial from the staff member on the phone was even more disappointing three out of the five meals had only a tablespoon if that of one of the chosen vegetables that being the cauliflower bechmel Now I'm not saying I was expecting mountains of food but I was expecting consistency and none of that was evident in these meals This could happen in one of two ways 1/ running out of the actual dish then being to lazy to replenish the dish so burying it under the other vegetables hoping that no one notices 2/ putting in chicken first and trying to build a meal around it Either way what I recieved was totally unacceptable and although this was the first time it happened to me will be the last as I will never be back The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is only because I really enjoyed everything I got from clems up till today And only because of your staff members response which came across as she didn't care after trying to deny she actually put that much in its one thing to admit you got it wrong totally different to...
