I love Thai Riffic’ Pad Kee Mao! Their lunch specials are such great value, everyday from 11am-4pm and starts from $14.90 🤩! Their dinner menu has great variety of entrees & mains. They do BYO (at $4pp corkage), and have plenty of drinks options such as beer, wine, cocktails & mocktails 🍹. I tried their mocktails: Yakult Pipo Jelly & Watermelon Peachvava, and they were so yum & refreshing 😙 I enjoyed all the foods here & they have great portions. The prawn dumplings had nice thin skins 👍. Pork skewers were sooo juicy (the best Thai pork skewers I’ve had 😘!). Betel Leaf Prawn were tasty. Love the papaya salad with soft shell crab & love the presentation of pineapple fried rice 😘. I absolutely loved Mama Pad Kaikemm Talay (from their Lunch menu) which came with soft egg 🤤. I hope that we can have this dish available for dinner time too, as it’s so good 😍 ✅Kids friendly with easy access for prams & wheelchairs. ✅Great for either single or group dinings (bookings are recommended for groups). ✅Outdoor seatings available.

Satay chicken and red curry was basically a soup very runny tasted absolutely disgusting and looked gross Pineapple fried rice tasted nice but had 3 huge chunks of tofu in there and hardly any rice ordered this vegetarian and still charged the full price for chicken and prawn. Noodles were ordered for my kids this tasted like it was either old or uncooked Entree was okay and sizzling seafood But overall staff were rude but can’t blame them when they have such a terrible boss. She was on the phone to her staff I don’t know what she spoke about but the staff kept explaining all these issues to her and I asked to speak to the boss I explained everything she said you are paying for everything even tho 3 meals were not eaten She is extremely rude and very unpleasant to talk to you can tell all she cares about is the money she will basically serve anything and make you pay The staff did not want to charge me for the meals we didn’t eat as they can clearly see how bad the meals were but the ‘boss’ said we have to pay!

I recently dined at Thai Riffic in Newtown, Sydney, and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was welcoming and lively, with attentive staff who were both friendly and efficient. The menu offers a wide array of traditional Thai dishes, but the standout for me was their fried rice. The fried rice was exceptional—perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of wok-charred flavor, and packed with fresh ingredients that elevated the dish. It was a simple yet comforting plate of food done incredibly well, and it left a lasting impression. The portions were generous, and the pricing felt fair for the quality of the food and the experience. While the restaurant was busy, service remained prompt and smooth. Overall, Thai Riffic is a wonderful spot for Thai cuisine in Newtown. I’d rate it a solid 8 out of 10 and highly recommend the fried rice—it’s a must-try! I’ll definitely be back to sample more of their offerings.

So I went here tonight for my birthday and was completely disappointed as I was expecting the Thairiffic I used to know, but the food has gone downhill. I used to go here quite often for special occasions as the food was nicer than some of the cheaper places around Newtown and the restaurant has a nicer atmosphere, albeit more expensive. However something has changed. The food is on par or in some instances worse than at the cheaper restaurants. However, our meal was quite a bit more - with 1 cocktail, 1 beer, 2 entrees and 2 mains it was $90.

The entrees were the most disappointing. We used to love the Betel Leaf Shrimp, but the recipe has changed and they are not as good as before - they used to have a bit of a chilli tang and have some really nice flavour, but now I felt it was lacking. The other entree, the chicken skewers - one was undercooked (pink), and in all of the skewers the chicken was very stringy and in some parts a darker brown colour. I believe brown chicken indicates they cooked the red part of the chicken meat, usually found on cheaper cuts of chicken. I didn't finish eating it because it was not enjoyable.

The mains were okay, just average. The presentation is not what it used to be. The food used to be displayed beautifully but now it is just your regular food thrown into a bowl presentation. I could get a meal for 2 (without drinks) at other Thai places in Newtown and Glebe for a lot less, so I expected to get something a lot nicer for our money, as we used to at this Thairiffic store.

If you have been here before I think you will probably find a return visit does not meet your expectations. If you are considering coming here for a special occasion and want above average food, I'd say consider looking elsewhere as the food here is just average and nothing special, although the atmosphere is much the same as before and pleasant enough. If you don't mind so much about atmosphere and just want good Thai food then I would consider some of the cheaper Thai places as you would get much the same quality of food (in some cases...

I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent visit to your Newtown location. While the restaurant was not particularly busy—suggesting ample time for staff to attend to patrons—the overall demeanor of the service staff was shockingly rude and unwelcoming. Specifically, one female staff member displayed a very unprofessional and curt attitude throughout the entire interaction. Her tone and mannerisms made us feel like an imposition rather than valued customers. The quality of the food is completely overshadowed when the hospitality component is handled so poorly. A dining experience is not just about the meal; it is about the environment and the staff's professionalism. The rudeness encountered significantly damaged what should have been an enjoyable dinner. I sincerely hope that management addresses this issue immediately. I recommend reviewing your team's customer service training to ensure all staff members understand the basic requirement of being polite, attentive, and welcoming, regardless of how quiet or busy the restaurant is. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to return or recommend your...
