Love C9 gelato. I usually get them in Crowsnest however as we were closer to Newtown we decided to go there after dinner in Zetland. Google says shop closes at 10pm so we thought we had time. We entered the shop just after 9pm. We were excited to order and sit inside but unfortunately the attendants decided they wanted to close the shop early. It was disappointing to say the least as we drove there thinking we can chill while eating dessert. We insisted we wanted to sit inside and finish in 10 min. Long story short, we didn’t enjoy our experience in this shop. Shop attendants looked quite unhappy even though by the time we finished our dessert, I even took the cups and plate straight to them so they didnt have to pick them up from the table.
We stood outside the shop to chat. Still there were people wanting to get in but shop had already closed. Im pretty sure these customers looked them up in google too and saw the shop was suppose to close at 10pm. Oh well they better update the trading hours in google to avoid people being misled

Read moreC9 Gelato in Newtown is visually appealing, but sadly, the experience didn’t match the price tag. For $15.25, I expected much more.
The “cookie dough” which was supposed to be gelato, felt more like basic ice cream, already melting by the time it reached my table. The croissant-waffle pastry was a major letdown. It was excessively hard, almost rock-like, making it difficult to cut or chew. Despite being toasted from frozen, it lacked any softness and bordered on stale.
Adding to the disappointment, the extra $1 for Biscoff sauce didn’t feel justified—it was awkwardly drizzled across the plate rather than complementing the dessert itself. While the plating was neat and the venue has a stylish interior with ample seating, the food quality fell short of expectations.
If you’re in the area, I’d suggest heading down to Messina instead for a better experience at a similar price. With its potential and great aesthetic, C9 could become a standout spot if they improve the quality and value of their offerings. As it stands, though, paying this much for a small, poorly executed dessert leaves much to be desired. Three stars for the presentation and ambiance, but the food needs serious...
Read moreCute desserts but flavors still don’t beat my favorite! I love that it’s one of the only places in town with gelato sandwiches, and you get several options - cookies (mix and match from 3 flavors), croissant, donuts, cronuts etc. There are a few tables so about 4 or 5 parties can sit there at a time.
C9 also stands for cloud 9. I would say it’s a great deal to eat in house because you get additional strawberries and sometimes bananas for no extra charge!
The cookies were alright but I would have preferred more chew to them. The dark chocolate gelato (vegan) is definitely a go to as it balances the sweet pastries that go with it. For $10 it’s a steal to get the gelato sandwiches! You can mix the flavors for the cookies, one each and the gelato could be a mix of flavors too.
I personally enjoyed the waffles better than the cookies but they were pricier at $13 for a single serving. There was a nice chew and a little bit of caramelisation on the edges of the waffle which went really nicely with the gelato.
If you’re looking for a cute dessert place to hang out with friends in newtown, c9 is the...
