Went to this place on Saturday. The food was good, but it was a bit pricy and the services were terrible.
I ordered a onigiri plate with agedashi tofu and I have waited 15 minutes. Meanwhile another customer already got his meal in 3 minutes. Then I asked the staff to chase my order. In the owner and the staff conversation in Japanese, I realised they have messed up my order with that customer, but that customer ordered tempura instead of tofu. They only told me “sorry I will check” after that conversation
I received my meal in 3 minutes after chasing my order. Then the owner went to that customer and said “sorry we have given you the wrong dish and will offer you a tempura as a side”. However, I got nothing regarding this situation: no full explanation of why my meal was late in English, no proper apology (the owner did after I complained), no offerings. I can’t imagine how long would I have to wait if I didn’t chase my order
After finishing the meal, the owner came and asked me “how are you” and that’s the time I complained this matter to him. Again he did not gave me the reason of why my order was late in English, I knew the reason just because I can understand Japanese. He told me that “we can offer you something” and asked me what do I want. I refused his suggestion as I did not want to sound like begging for something and he made this suggestion after I complained to him, which was different from how he took the initiative to offer tempura to that customer.
I was totally disappointed and angry for my first time coming to this place. Will definitely not...
Read moreI don’t normally write reviews but am making an exception for Comeco for a couple of reasons… The food is amazing. So much care and pride is taken by the owners and their staff with every dish. It’s truly organic, handmade, and nourishing. But the main reason I’m writing this is the importance they put on catering to people with allergies. Being a parent of a child who has multiple and severe food allergies brings a lot of challenges and I’m speaking to anyone out there who is in a similar position: This is the only place I’ve encountered that I 100% trust will not only accommodate my son’s allergies, but also makes him feel he’s not missing out on anything, because at this place he actually isn’t. Owners Yu and Masa have created a culture where everyone can share the love they have for what they do. This is reflected in the food they serve and the care they take. Everyone can enjoy this place, but if you have allergies, or like me, you’re caring for a child or loved one with the same issues… You can literally not find a better place in Sydney. And I’m speaking from over a decade of experience in managing these challenges. (I also frequent this place without my son, which is a reflection on how...
Read moreGroup of 4 friends. We decided to go there for dinner after one of us had been there before and told us the food was great. I can't argue with that - the LITTLE food we got was great, however, they didn't have enough food to serve us. We had a reservation for 3 people at 7.45pm on a Saturday night and when we got there to order we were told they only had 1 dish and some sides available and only for 2 people. Now, I understand you've been busy, but you're in Newtown on Saturday night: manage your food better! Also, you know you have 3 people (we invited an extra friend last minute for a total of 4 people) coming for dinner (we have a reservation!!!!) and you don't have enough food for them???!!! Well, you should be ashamed of yourself and at least apologise, but the girl at the counter was rude and she didn't seem apologetic at all. In the end the four of us shared 2 katsu, a very small bowl of chips and 4 pieces of tempura vegetables. And they call it dinner!!!! Sorry folks, but that place will never see me again. Hope you will have a better experience...
