I stopped here after walking past a few other cafes and Iâm so glad I did. The vibe here is great, the cafe layout is pleasing and relaxing, the service is excellent, and the food is mind-blowingly good. I got the Eggs Benedict and the two pieces of asparagus (which I normally find to be a bit of a boring vegetable) were the most tasty asparagus Iâve ever eaten. The whole dish looked amazing, put together with a level of culinary professionalism rarely seen in a normally-priced cafe, which this is. Theyâve put a really interesting twist on eggs bene, adding in sweet and sour flavours in the form of mild pickles, as well as sweet chilli jam on the plate. Itâs presented beautifully.
The coffee was excellent too - my almond flat white was as delicious as one made with milk, so if youâre a non-dairy coffee person like I am, then I recommend the coffee here. The staff is attentive, friendly, humble and genuine - I got the sense that they really care about delivering an excellent experience. I live way over in Bondi, but I would happily make the trip to Newtown every few weeks to eat at this cafe. Itâs the sort of place that youâd take an out-of-town visitor to, to show them how great Sydney is, or what great taste youâve...
Read moreWouldn't recommend. See photos: Burnt brekky, unclean/dirty interior. Reading old reviews, I was enticed to visit and possibly make this a regular go-to. It was so terrible that I've taken photo's, hopeful that others don't have breakfast ruined going here. I'm hopeful that they're just having an exceptionally bad month. My breakfast was completely burnt and avocado old. See photo. The bathroom was embarrassing. If I'd taken friends/family here I would have felt terrible. See photos. The walls were covered in dirt and sprayed up pieces, the ground was filthy, sink disgusting and door sticky with grime (this isn't the type of situation where a toddler goes in, makes a mess and I comment)...I'm talking about weeks if not months worth of built up grime. It was absolutely gross. If it was simple toilet paper on the ground and soap scum, I wouldn't say a word. I've never been to a bathroom this disgusting in a cafe before. Would not recommend and hopeful that the...
Read moreVisited this easy-going cafe for a lazy Sunday brunch since Iâve heard a few good things about the place but never ever tried it out until now. It was easy to get a seat but by the time we left, it was packed! And for good reason! The coffee is good and the food is even more delicious! And everything is relatively well-priced. We went for a savoury (Croque Madame) as well as a sweet option (French Toast). Croque Madam was a little underwhelming as Iâve had much tastier ones elsewhere but it was still a good bite. The French Toast on the other hand was a little more unexpected - in a good way. The toast itself was encrusted in what I think weâre cornflakes to give the bread some texture and crunch, which isnât your typical French Toast but it definitely added some dimension to it and we thoroughly enjoyed this dish. We enjoyed it so much that other patrons dining outside noticed us eating it and asked us what we ordered. To top it off, the service is friendly...
