Absolutely disgraceful pricing practices – avoid at all costs.

I’ve now had six separate experiences at QE Food Stores in Camperdown where the price charged at the register is at least 30% higher than what’s advertised on the shelf. Every single time, they blame a “broken screen” or some vague system issue – but how convenient that the broken screen always results in them getting more money and you getting ripped off?

It’s deceitful, it’s manipulative, and frankly it feels deliberate. They’re banking on customers not paying attention. And to be pulling this across the road from a hospital? Where vulnerable people, families and frontline workers shop? That’s not just wrong – it’s disgusting.

If it’s happened to me this many times, it’s happening to others too. Either fix your systems or stop pretending it’s an “accident.” This isn’t an IT issue – it’s a trust issue.

Until they show they can be honest with their pricing and respect their customers, I won’t be returning. And...

My original review was 1 star, after purchasing a bottle of juice on 4/10/25 that turned out to be expired. I didn’t realise until after my toddler had already had some, which was obviously upsetting — especially when you expect fresh, safe products to be checked before sale.

That said, the store handled my complaint exceptionally well. They refunded me and even replaced the juice for free. Not many places go that far to make things right, and I genuinely appreciate their quick and considerate response.

It is my closest grocer, but I find myself disappointed every time. Produce is a lot more expensive than IGA, coles and Woolworths and it is often close to expiry or off. The vegetables seem rarely fresh as they often feel limp and on their way out.
