DULWICH Hill ADDISON Thai and Chinese Takeaway, okay so that combination probably should have clued me into to the mediocrity of the food, but sometimes the weirdest of places have the best food. SOMETIMES, This is not one of those times. So whenever I try a Chinese takeaway the first thing I get is BBQ Pork Fried Rice, You can usually judge a Chinese takeaway on that dish alone. The verdict is not good..... First of all way to salty literally all I could taste was the huge amount of salt that was used to make this dish, second it had none of the usual ingredients you tend to find in a fried rice dish like scallons/spring onion, scrambled egg etc there was how ever plenty of carrot and corn 🙄 and peas and the rice itself was mushy. As for the BBQ PORK it tasted more like roast pork and was very dry and salty and the price was an outrageous $11.00. Which would be fine if it was actually edible but after two forks full it went in the bin. Considering it is literally a bit of a hole in the wall takeaway $11.00 is pretty pricey. Very disappointing especially considering I was drawn in by the smell as I was passing by. Not sure what smelled so damn good but it definitely wasn't the BBQ pork fried rice.

Under New Management We have been buying our Chinese food from this place for the last 2 years. It has always been very enjoyable and definitely value for money. It has recently been under new management. The food now is the greasiest, tasteless and undercooked you could imagine. Our last complete order went directly in the bin inside 2 additional plastic bags to retain the grease/oil. I did contact the shop and they were very polite and apologetic and offered a full refund. I declined their kind offer of the refund. I explained to person I spoke to, I was very disappointed with my order but also I wanted to know if the cook who was on tonight was their permanent cook. Unfortunately, she said yes. I will not be a customer again. I have only posted this review to inform any new customers what to expect and for the old regular customers who are not aware of new management, it definitely is not what you are used to. I have been forced to give this restaurant a 1 star rating (which it does not deserve) so I can post...

HOLYYYY, take about food, service and price, this is the GREATEST restaurant I have eaten from, genuinely, the food is to DIE for, the location is perfect!! The service is high end restaurant quality, and chefs are extremely down to earth and humble. It’s so refreshing to see a local business creating such enjoyment for the community through the speciality. Seriously, I will stand on this hill alone, the food is fantastic, genuinely SOOOOOOO amazing, I don’t care what anybody has to say, for the price, it’s only a loss in their end, given the quality and standard of the food. I’m amazed that there isn’t a 80 meter queue for this place, it’s descent so much recognition and love from the community than its reviving.

Rant over, in summary, you NEED and MUST eat from here if you truly want to understand the purpose...

I’m a regular customer at Dulwich Hill Addison Chinese, and for good reason! I always get the chicken and corn soup and the wonton soup – both are cheap, delicious, and consistently comforting after a long day. The flavours are fresh, the portions are generous, and the staff are always kind and efficient. It’s the kind of local spot you can rely on for a warm, satisfying meal without breaking the bank. I will definitely continue to be a regular here! Highly recommend if you’re in Dulwich Hill and craving good, honest Chinese food.
