We love food cooked over fire, the flavour of the flame transferring to the charred meat. The Eate delivers on this with their cooking of meat on the spit. Eate is a large open plan restaurant in Dulwich Hill across from the station on Cantebury Rd. Nice and casual with plenty of space to seat everyone including large groups. The friendly staff is also extremely obvious and it makes for a great dining experiece and they make you feel welcome, like one of the family. The food at Eate has mediterranean influence. The starters were great including the grilled haloumi with honey is always a winner, spiced eggplant chips with molasses and pomegranate was strangely delicious and the super tender salt and pepper calamari with garlic aioli. A fresh house made juice perfect with these bites, especially on a warm summers day or evening. Bring on the flame; For the larger meals they do a variety of bugers and yeros. However, the meats cooked over flame are the go. The slow cooked Greek inspired lamb shoulder had great flavour and was melt in your mouth. The charcoal chicken a delicious char flavour combined with the pickled vegetable and Lebanese inspired garlic sauce also very nice. They also have changing specials; the sizzling seafood was amazing as were the salads. We sampled the tabouli and chickpea, chickpeas are a unique contribution to tabouli, and the beetroot with goats cheese. Save room for dessert: go a loaded shake try their cakes, maybe a coffee or tea. The chocolate almond cake with candy popcorn and salted caramel ice cream....Amazing. The churros was also nice, and different being cookies and cream flavoured. The Eate perfect for a casual meal, with friendly staff and tasty food, something for everyone.

The Eate serves up classic Mediterranean flavours straight from the spit, off the grill and fresh from the garden. I dined here by kind invite of Food Blogger Australia to celebrate The Eate's third birthday and the launch of their new menu. There are plenty of highlights on the new menu, but first drinks - the fruity Mocktails are a winner and deliver refreshing flavours such as watermelon, lime and mint. To start, try Pickled Vegetables and Spicy Eggplant Fries, these are a very tasty nibble. The Taramasalata is also a must, this fish based dip is eaten with warm pita bread and it's so delicious! If meat is your thing, the Eate has you covered with juicy Charcoal Chicken served with pickled vegetables and garlic sauce - Or go straight to the top with a Meat Platter of smoked beef brisket, BBQ lamb ribs, chicken chorizo, Jerk beef skewers, pulled lamb, house made cornbread doughnuts, grilled onions and green chillies! Health it up with a Sizzling Seafood plate of prawns, calamari, fish and mussels served with a fresh salsa of tomato and parsley. BTW, the salads on offer are anything but boring, and there are several tasty options to tempt your taste buds. To complete the menu, the Eate also serves an impressive array of tapas, burgers, yeros, mains, desserts, coffee and shakes. Bring your appetite and bring your friends because the food at The Eate is generous, fresh and full of flavour.

Visited here on a coupon a few days ago, the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Picked up two burgers with fries, salad and drinks. We polished off the chips very quickly I didn’t get a chance to take a photo. We picked the Angus Smoked Beef Brisket burger and Truffle Burger. Red thoroughly enjoyed the Brisket burger, the large slices of beef were tender and delicious. It also came with a generous amount of pickles. I demolished the Truffle burger. The patty was cooked nicely and the pastrami works really well with the mayo and cheeses. The Eate isn’t licensed but the offer a nice selection of mocktails. We picked the pink lemonade which was also really nice. It does have oranges in it for those with allergies. I will definitely be back to try more of their burgers, smoked meats and desserts which looked good.

My family and i have been going to -THE- EATE for 2-3 years and we are a family of 6 and all 6 of us have always enjoyed going to -THE- EATE. For all our 6 years we have had amazing service: All of the chefs and waiters show respect and gratitude for coming to their restaurant, the waiters are so polite and accommodating and friendly they even suggest that you pick something of course you don't have to but they suggest. Their seating is very nice and they have a range of tables for as many people as you bring or want to come along. Phone service: they answer in like 9 seconds and they can understand what you say, they don't stutter or do anything like that, they are always ready and have a plan. The food: every single bite you take is precious because not many places offer their menu, they have a range of food and for all the muslims it is halal, they take a while to make the food but that is good because it means they are making the food properly and well. Chefs: they Also they have 2 girl chefs so people might find more understanding with women then men and this is more for women. The restrooms: they are very clean and always smell nice, they have hand sanitiser aswell incase for COVID-19. Deserts: the deserts are very nice and look as if they came from 100 great chefs, they have a range of deserts. Healthy food: they also have salads and healthy food for people who enjoy the healthy food and not the junky type of kind. They have dog and cat food: if you have a dog or cat they provide dog and cat food for them so they can enjoy a good meal. Music: this may be a bit off topic but why not go there, the music they put when you are sitting snd the like are great. All the songs are non-explicit (NO RUDE WORDS) and have a amazing range of songs, they have old songs, new songs, and top notch loved songs. Dirtiness: i do not know why i wrote Dirtiness but there is like 2% of Dirtiness in the actuall place and that 2% is because of what some customers/visitors do. I AM GOING TO SAT THIS ONLY ONCE, -THE- EATE is a top notch place and i think you would enjoy it there. Keep it up -THE- EATE...

Overall very underwhelming food and incredibly awkward atmosphere. Dropped by late on a Monday afternoon, and the place was completely empty of customers, everyone in the building was working there, or visiting a friend who worked there. I understand we didn’t come in at a busy time, so I brushed off the awkwardness of the situation. My partner went to the counter and ordered, and I went to find a seat. An older angry looking gentleman was sitting at a table about halfway through the dining area on his phone, (he clearly worked there) and I took that to mean the back section was closed, so I selected a table from the few at the front that were available and didn’t have employees lounging and talking at them. We ordered a mocktail and a cocktail and they took about 15 minutes to come to the table despite there being no other customers in the building which felt odd. The cocktail was lackluster and the mocktail came with huge seeds and pulp in it, and was not a very pleasant experience. When our food finally came we received a brown paper sack of fries (although we had indicated we would be dining in) and a small ramekin of sauce my partner paid $4 dollars for!! The fries also came with an odd holographic pouch of seasoning? Undeterred, we decided to dig in (we were really hungry) and although the fries were pretty tasty, it was time for our other food to arrive. I was handed a small plate with my cheese burger on it (it wasn’t bad, just… kinda bland?) and my partner received his yiro. His wrap wasn’t really exciting, but he did finish it after allowing me to have a bite, and I finished my burger after he tried it as well. Overall, just not great. We live around the corner and haven’t actually dined here until now… glad to know we aren’t missing out on anything. We won’t be back. Can’t say I enjoyed any part of the experience, the service, the atmosphere, or the food really. It wasn’t disgusting, it was edible, so I give...
