An overall unfortunate dining experience. Let's start with the cost: $113 bought us a Kid's Calamari and Sweet Potato Chips, 4 small plates (Spanish Style Garlic Prawns, Popcorn Cauliflower, Salt & Pepper Squid, Handmade Prawn & Pork Dumplings) an Apple Juice and a bottle of Water. For this price, I would have expected a reasonable standard - not expecting a mind-blowing experience, but at least a very tasty one. Every component of this meal was underwhelming. The prawns were small, under-seasoned and overcooked - garlic oil / butter was tasty, but we could have done with more than a quarter of a regular slice of toast to mop it up. Popcorn cauliflower was standard fish-batter, covering cauliflower - cheese sauce was tasty enough. Salt & Pepper Squid was quite greasy, with an unbalanced seasoning (more chilli than anything) - aioli was fresh and a good accompaniment. The dumplings were by far the worst fare - dry, tasteless, and accompanied by a sauce that did not match the flavour of the dumplings at all. The Kids' Calamari and Sweet Potato Chips: I've never seen a kid choose the protein over batter before, but most of the batter remained on the plate - it was very oily and lacked crunch. The Sweet potato chips were great - crunchy and perfectly seasoned. Portion sizes for this meal were overall as-expected. Perhaps we chose poorly on the dishes? Perhaps they were having an off-night? But for the money, we did expect a little more. The staff were pleasant - didn't check in until we were finished, but all smiley and cheerful when we left.
Verdict: The Tramsheds offers a wide variety of cuisines under one roof. Steer clear of this one - you will be happier with the food at your local...
Read moreStaff were not very nice. Firstly, the staff that asked for our order said if we wanted all the food to be delivered together or 1 at a time. And we said weâd like it all to be served together. Later on, she gave us 2 of the entrees and refused to give us the rest because apparently it doesnât fit on the table and asked us the finish the 2 dishes first, cos they need space for the table? We were confused looking at the table space since they relatively only small plates, and there still plenty of room. My family and I were looking at each other thinking what a strange service. And then it gets worse. A bit racist and discriminatory.. My folks are visiting from overseas and when my dad asked nicely for rice they gave us a smirk. Culturally, they are not accustomed to eating dishes without rice and they really wanted to eat at Fish & Co. Staff gave us a very snobby service. Place is overpriced for what it is anyway. We paid about $180 for 4 people for small plates and a fish served sadly with rice. Never...
Read moreI work in hospitality (as a chef and venue manager) and know what good service is. This was the WORST experience I ever had in hospitality. Misleading signage let you believe that the products you are ordering are fresh (especially for a seafood restaurant), when in reality it is frozen goo coming out of a packet. After sending the food back I was expecting the staff to get back to the table for me to reorder a different item or at least trying to work on a solution (and not miss a sale), but nothing. I asked to speak with the supervisor (who seemed to be the owner), from manager to manager about the services that he is providing but no discussion was possible he wouldnât hear what I had to say and asked me to PROVE HIM wrong and name a restaurant that was providing the basic services I was asking for. And that if I wanted to reorder food I should have get up and asked at the counter (even tho itâs table service). Lesson learned, donât argue with imbeciles and stead away...
