Somewhat hidden yet relatively easy to find in one of the back streets of Manly’s corso, this place is ‘one of’ or more appropriately, the ‘top fish & chips restaurants in Sydney’. Fishmongers isn’t your ordinary fish & chips place around the corner, it has a generous courtyard-like seating outside away from noise and traffic. We ordered the 1/2 family box, very easily, serves 2. It starts with two oysters as hors d’ouvre followed by the mouth-watering and fabulously looking box which came with our grilled barramundi and flathead (small additional cost). It came with prawns and calamaris which were also cooked to perfection and the endless serving of ‘truly’ hand-cut chips and wedges! The box came with the traditional sauces and plenty of lemons and sweet potato chips. Fishmongers isn’t cheap but like anything of luxury, quality has its price. We were extremely happy to pay this price of an out of this world fish & chips experience that has truly left all competitors behind. We will definitely visit again.

I have celiacs and am from AZ. Visiting Manly beach and having fish & chips is iconic but not so easy for someone gluten free. Fishmongers has wonderful rating and does a gf fish & chips so I thought I would give it a try. At first I was slightly surprised it wasn’t batter dipped but I decided to give it a try and I AM SO GLAD I DID! It’s absolutely delicious. It’s grilled and a mild fish cooked perfectly. The fries (chips) are hand cut and they use a dedicated fryer. The owner knows what he’s doing with gf and he makes a sweet potato (chip) on the top that takes the cake! It was five star delicious, reasonable value for a nice sized meal and absolutely delicious. If you are celiac or even if you aren’t I highly recommend. BTW my husband eats gluten when he can (haha) and he had the battered fish and chips and loved them! EAT HERE YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!

Came here for the first time with my partner yesterday. Great service, friendly hello from the Asian gentleman at the counter. Asked him and Chef for their recommendations and we got both the specials. Grilled Salmon with salad, cooked perfectly. Nice and flaky and moist in the middle, not dry at all. Crust was crispy. Salad was a good choice for something light and refreshing. Battered flathead with fries. Probably the best fish and chips I've had. Crispy batter, chips you could tell were made fresh and in house as opposed to brought in and frozen. Quality ingredients and great service from the 2 gentlemen that were working around 3pm on Monday. The boss loved it, which means we will be back!

We ordered the Half Family Box $50 2 Hoki Fish, 2 Prawns, 2 Oysters, 4 Calamari, Hand Cut Chips, 2 Potato Cakes, Tartare Sauce, Sweet Chili Sauce and Lemon.

This is what we expected Fish and Chips to be. They called their shop Gourmet Fish and Chips and they lived up to the reputation. Never mind the age old franchise Fish and Chips box we tried at Watson's Bay. If you are going to eat Fish and Chips, this is the place!

Presentation was beautifully done, with ribbons of fried yam contrasted against the golden goodness in the basket.

The oyster was fresh shucked, tasted sweet and fresh with a touch of brine taste.

The fish (Hoki) was lightly battered and tasted very fresh inside.

The calamari was perfectly tendered and not chewy at all.

The shrimp was fried with the head and tail included to keep the meat moist. Very well done and not over fried at all.

The potato cakes was surprisingly good and tasted more like a tempura squash and not French fried as one would expect.

By the time we got to the hand cut fries, we were still happy, it's very crispy and tasty.

Great place to go for lunch if you are at Manly.

They are located inside a little square (Rialto Square) by Coles, the...

Rude staff, cold customer service, poor hygiene, and poor work ethic. Overpriced items on the menu for an old frozen ingredients. No wonder the place was empty. Everything we paid in advanced. The staff / kitchen hand was sleeping inside the shop's bench's dining area when we came. The cook was outside bludging while looking really disturbed when the waitress called her so bothered that he needed to cook for an order paid. The cutleries were dirty and unpolished, same with the unpolished glasses and dusty tables. The cook has a very strong bad ego. The calamari was old stock, the chips were overly salted, the fish tacos were soggy. The waitress looked really disturbed serving customers too. Body language and facial expressions all have negative energies in them. Rip off. The staff changed his shirt too, while in the shop, in the kitchen....
