I just got back to my hotel room after an incredible meal at Fratelli Fresh and I had to write this review immediately while the experience is still fresh in my mind. I'm absolutely buzzing from the authentic Italian flavors - this restaurant transported me straight to Italy! I ordered the lamb ragu and it completely blew me away. The rich, savory sauce coated the most perfectly al dente pasta. You could tell the pasta was made fresh in-house - it had just the right amount of bite and texture. The tender, slow-braised lamb melted in my mouth and the dish was impeccably seasoned, allowing the high-quality ingredients to really shine. My wife got the prawn linguine and it was equally impressive. The prawns were succulent and tasted like they had been caught fresh that very day. The delicate white wine and herb sauce enhanced their natural sweetness without overpowering them. Again, the hand-made linguine was cooked to a flawless al dente consistency. Every element of both dishes was in perfect harmony and balance. The portions were generous without being excessive. The service was warm, knowledgeable and attentive. And the space itself is contemporary yet welcoming with an open kitchen so you can see the masters at work. I consider myself a bit of an Italian food snob and Fratelli Fresh met and exceeded my expectations on every level. This isn't generic, mass-produced Italian fare - it's the real deal, crafted with heart and soul. I would fly back to Sydney just to eat here again. If you're looking for a stellar Italian dining experience that will make you feel like you're in a trattoria in Tuscany, run don't walk to Fratelli Fresh! Hands down one of the best Italian meals I've had not just in Australia, but anywhere in the world.

I was excited to see this newest branch of FF at Darling Harbour. With a more casual setup then the other locations, there is a bar where you walk up to order your food and drinks, coffee station, gelateria & dessert station with all the temptations on display. The menu still has all the goodies including antipasti/platters to share, pizzas and pastas. I cannot go past the pastas when I am here and I have had a number of their pastas and this time has to be my favourite! The spaghettini with crab meat, chilli, garlic and pangrattato is frickin amazing! Such a simple dish with so much flavour. Generous portion and good amount of crab meat and the pangrattato gave it such a good texture with all the crunchiness. The ravioli with gorgonzola cream was absolutely delicious also and quite rich. Loved sharing the prosciutto with melon & mozzarella (although I changed it for burrata) which was a generous portion to be shared. The spaghetti bolognese was really saucey and delicious. The pizza was ok and the prawn linguini a little dry. Tiramisu was yummy and banoffee is delicious and decadent and super sweet. A lovely place to eat, drink and relax.

Headline: do not plan to eat here if you need prompt service and food. But the food is very good. The reason for the visit: dinner with kids before Vivid - we needed something good but in a reasonable time (& were prepared to pay a decent price for it). The venue: new build amongst DH eateries, set in a warehouse style high roofed building (FF biggest venu). Campari bar (ala Milan) thing going on - really a nice atmosphere. They can probably accommodate 200 heads at a time. The review: our timeline went like this (based on time stamped photos & looking at watch a lot). 615 Booking time - we arrive on time and ask to order immediately. 625 order taken (5 pasta and 2 pizza & a salad and a bowl of chips - core business) +2 apple juices for kids 635 given a glass of water 645 apple juice arrives 700 ask waitress (who is very polite) where the food is - she says 15 more minutes 705 ask manager when the kids food will arrive - it’s plain pasta with tomato sauce. 705 the pizza arrives 708 some of the pasta arrives 714 salad and chips arrive 717 remaining pasta arrives Kids went mental at 646 btw….. The food was very tasty - couldn’t really be better. We rammed our food in and paid - which was also bitter sweet - they didn’t charge for the kids pasta, but did add a service charge (without asking). Now the issues are that firstly they were not busy (60% capacity maybe) but failed to recognise that people with kids actually need food within a relatively short time period esp at night. Given this is DH and their core business will be parents with kids (they are positioned outside one of the largest playgrounds in Sydney) this came as a shock. Secondly there was zero attention paid to us once we had ordered. No “would you like to order a glass of wine?” Nor “how’s the food?” Or “we can see you’re kids are about to eat their hands, how about some bread?” Does FF care? based on the number and frequency of similar reviews - I don’t think so. So if you too are sitting waiting for a meal you ordered 50 minutes before, I hope I’ve entertained you a little. Good luck FF, you’ve survived it through Covid, so you’ll survive my 2 star review too!

We were so excited to eat here before going to a show at ICC - our experience quickly turned sour. On checking in for our booking (3:45pm) we were told that because they were booked out, we would have to leave by 5pm, 1 hr 15 mins into our 2 hour booking (thankfully we weren't rushed out the door when that time came!). Then, we got a shock when we found out our 4 course option was going to be less than what we thought - the online booking system clearly stated entree platter, 2 pastas, a pizza, salad and 2 desserts but when we went to order we were told it was only 1 pasta and no salad! That is >$50 of value lost! You're better off ordering à la carte as there was NO SAVING doing the 4 course deal, and the selection is also restricted to 20% of the menu. The platter was average, the pizza soggy in the middle and the desserts felt cheap coming out with the plastic wrap and sticky tape still on! The lamb ragu was nice and non soggy parts of the pizza were tasty. Our waitress was lovely, especially brave having to deliver the news about the menu change instead of her manager whom she checked with.... all in all, a sour taste left in our mouth. While convenient, we will be going to other establishments in future. Edited to add: on reflection of the menu, it appears I've been charged the 4 course price for the 3 course option - 3 course would include entree, 2 of the listed mains + dessert (aligning with what we got), whereas the 4 course should include entree, 2 of the listed pastas, pizza and dessert. Feeling ripped off!

Love the modern and trendy decor of Fratelli Fresh, the aesthetics of the venue is lovely and it made it feel like we were going to have an experience dining here. We made a reservation for 11 for an early dinner at 5.30pm and was given a lovely large table. Plenty of space for 3 families and because it was tucked away there wasn't alot of foot traffic near us (better for the other patrons as we had 5 young kids on our table). The menu had something for everyone and its always nice to see "kid friendly/kids menu" available. The kids had ham pizza's and spaghetti bolognese (demolished it) while the adults sampled the starters and also ordered pizza and pasta dishes. The highlight was the Crab Spaghettini when it finally made it way to our table, it was my first time trying it at Fratelli (friend recommended) and it didn't disappoint. Unfortunately 2 out of 3 pizza's was underwhelming. One of the guests said the sauce used on the Gamberi pizza felt like it was straight from the tin (vs freshly made, more traditional) and the parmesan cream sauce didnt feel like it was an ideal choice on the Meatball pizza. Both pizza's were edible but could be tweaked to be better. No complaints about the cocktails, its hard to fault cocktails 😆 Overall a pleasant experience, probably wouldn't rave about it but happy to come back and try other items on the menu if we're in the area and felt like Italian and after a kid friendly venue.
