Hopefully, whoever owns Mr Hotdog in Haymarket reads all the reviews about how horrible customer service is - or lack thereof - at the Haymarket location. The lady at the counter was so rude that I felt like she was lecturing me and told me “you do not read the menu properly” 🤷🏻♀️ . I ordered a “combo” No. 1 (original hotdog and a drink) and a No. 2 (Jumbo cheesedog) by itself. She kept telling me “no combo for No. 2” and I said I understand but I was asking for combo No. 1. She rolled her eyes at me and told me I have to read the menu properly. This terrible exchange went on for about a minute or two and in the end she got it eventually. Then she raised her voice at the next customer (elderly lady) and was pointing at her and then the menu and it was just awful to watch. So I asked her if she was having a bad day, she looked at me...rolled her eyes (she is an expert at this) and told me again that I was wrong because I didn’t read the menu properly. I asked her what can I / we do to make her day better? She ignored me and shoved the receipt in front of me and turned around. At this point, I was so convinces she would spit on our food 💀. Her rudeness was indefinite because she treated other customers like they/we are all wasting her time, such arrogance coming from someone who’s supposed to be displaying customer service. She refused to give her name to me so I took a photo of her and I will send her photo with my receipt to whoever owns this joint. Or maybe she owns the place? I dont think so, she doesn’t care about the business or her job by the...
Read moreI visited right at opening time on Saturday, and there were already about four groups of customers ahead of me. It was quite busy from the moment the store opened. However, the staff member seemed new and was working completely alone. Considering it was around noon on a weekend with so many customers, it really didn’t make sense to have only one person working. The staff was hardworking and very friendly, but it was clearly too much for one person to handle. I really think they should have at least one more staff member during busy hours.
I ordered two half-and-half corndogs and one tteokbokki, and it took about 30 minutes to get my order. This definitely wasn’t the staff’s fault it’s clearly due to the lack of staff.
The corndogs were amazing they tasted just like the ones in Korea! However, the tteokbokki had a noticeably strong sour taste, kind of like ketchup. It wasn’t subtle the sourness was quite strong. If they could adjust the recipe to reduce that sour flavor, it would taste...
Read moreI was after a snack and decided to get a pork bun from chinatown, until i decided to see what the big line was for outside Mr Hot Dog, so i decided to give it a go. Its a 3 step process (but really its 2). You choose your hotdog type, i chose a cheese dog. Then, after your hotdog has been cooked, you choose your toppings (step 2 and 3). The topping option categories are: to have sugar or spicy cheese on the outside, and what sauce you want on top. I chose no sugar or cheese but got tomato sauce and honey mustard. The hotdog itself was good, an indulgent treat. There was only staff working there, she was going it all herself: taking orders, making food and calling orders when they were ready and she was very grumpy. She must have been having a bad day because she was extremely grumpy when taking orders and calling orders that are ready. I thought i was going to get in trouble when i asked for my sauce toppings. It was pretty funny and I was laughing with the other people lining up to...
