We recently had the pleasure of dining at Fuel by Night, an Israeli tapas restaurant located in Brookvale. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. The owner Jess welcomed us like family, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with cozy lighting and comfortable seating that made us feel right at home.
The highlight of our meal was definitely the Jerusalem bagel and dips. The bread was warm and fresh, with just the right amount of crunch, and the dips were bursting with flavor. I especially loved the hummus and baba ghanoush - they were some of the best I've ever had!
The kingfish sashimi was another standout dish. The fish was incredibly fresh and the presentation was stunning. It was the perfect light and refreshing dish to start off my meal.
Next up was the chopped liver, which was an unexpected delight. I had never tried it before, but I was blown away by how delicious it was. The chicken shawarma was also fantastic - juicy, tender, and packed with flavor.
For something heartier, I highly recommend the beef goulash. The meat was tender and the sauce was rich and flavorful. It was the perfect comfort food on a cool night.
To balance out all the savory dishes, I also tried the tabouli with sweet potato and pomegranate. The combination of flavors was unique and delicious, and the dish was light and refreshing.
To wash it all down, my friend and I had the Mona cocktail and our hubbies had the Israeli beer. The Mona cocktail was perfectly balanced and had just the right amount of sweetness, while the beer was crisp and refreshing.
I almost forgot to mention the cheesecake! It was the perfect end to a fantastic meal at Fuel by Night. The cheesecake was creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. It was the perfect way to satisfy my sweet tooth without being too heavy.
I was also impressed with the restaurant's commitment to catering for our gluten intolerant guest. They were able to provide gluten-free options for almost every dish on the menu, which was incredibly thoughtful and much appreciated.
All in all, my dining experience at Fuel by Night was truly exceptional. The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience, and I'm sure we'll be back again soon! Five...
Read moreI was a little reluctant to write a review of Fuel for fear of spreading the secret of this gastronomic gem too widely. We discovered Fuel-By-Night early in 2022 on the recommendation of a friend and have been back 3-4 times a month ever since, and now feel duty-bound to Jess and the team to let the cat out of the bag.
To be clear, Fuel is not a suburban eatery with an innovative menu. It is a fully-fledged Israeli/middle-eastern masterpiece in a slightly unlikely location (driven by its daytime cloak as a cafe). I can't speak to the daytime offerings, but dinner at Fuel is a delightful assault on the senses. The chef Liron (sp?) is nothing short of world-class, and Brookvale is punching above its weight with this place.
In our visits I think we have tried every dish on the menu, and been disappointed by none (remember to ask about the specials too). We are regularly accompanied by a vegetarian friend, and Fuel has now become her go-to eatery as well. The bagels are like nothing I've ever encountered, being a fresh-baked, roughly foot-long loop perfectly adapted tearing and sharing the array of labneh (a personal favourite), hummus and other dips.
If you're troubled by reaching over others to rip and dip, and general happy dining chaos ("balagan" according to the staff T-shirts) in a warm atmosphere with an eclectic middle-eastern sound track, this may not be the place for you. And that's perfectly fine with us.
If this sounds effusive, it is meant to be. But I have no connection with Fuel apart from nearly a year of happy dining experiences, and burgeoning friendships with the Fuel...
Read moreLocated in Brookvale on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Fuel By Night is a Middle Eastern gem that totally rocked our Friday night on June 14th, 2024. As someone with Israeli roots, the flavors here felt like a delicious nod to my mum's cooking but with a cool modern twist that blew us away.
Walking into Fuel By Night, we were hit with this amazing aroma of spices that got us hyped for what was to come. The place mixes modern vibes with Middle Eastern charm, making it super cozy and stylish at the same time.
We kicked off with the Bagel and Dips – that eggplant dip was seriously killer, rich and smoky. The Koftas were perfectly grilled and packed with flavor, paired with a fresh Beetroot Salad that hit the spot. Oh, and let's not forget that Pomegranate Cocktail! It was a burst of fruity goodness that paired perfectly with our meal.
The staff were awesome too – friendly, knowledgeable, and totally added to the vibe of the night. They knew their stuff and made us feel right at home.
Fuel By Night isn't just about the food; it's about celebrating Middle Eastern flavors in a way that feels both authentic and fresh. Whether you're into exploring new tastes or just want a chill spot with great food, this place nails it. We left with happy hearts and full bellies, already planning...
