Take two review - Back to test again - Much better this time round. Roll was flakier, fillings seemed to be fresh, Pork crackle was better, and the pork has great tastiness.
As i didn't come in the lunch time rush, could have been a little warmer, but otherwise a good visit to Banh Mi Bay Cafe.
Would go back, and have upgraded to a 4 star review. Good job team :)
Ps parking still very tricky, which of course is not the cafe's fault, more a word of warning.
Bbq pork was pretty average. Crispy pork was decent with good crispiness. Ok flavours, but lacking in the fresh crusty/flaky roll, and extra tasty fillings.
Ok for the beaches as not many choices in good Vietnamese, but certainly could improve, especially at ten bucks a pop.
Would give them another try to see if it was a one off.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreDonāt waste your time if youāre looking for traditional banh mi thit (authentic Vietnamese pork roll with cured meat) the pork rolls served here are pulled pork rolls. Way too much dry meat in the roll which takes away all the pleasure of a ārealā banh mi. You canāt taste the pickled carrots, you canāt taste the pate, mayo and definitely not the maggi sesoning ( if there was indeed any at all). No fragrance of fresh coriander and no pungency of fresh spring onion. Just. Meat.
Very disappointed as I had a real hankering for all the above flavours but alas it was not to be. Even though this is the ānot very diverseā northern beaches, it is Sydney in 2021, you canāt call something as beloved as a banh mi when it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe state of cleanliness of the salad bar is atrocious, probably the worst Banh Mi shop Iāve seen in Sydney. All ingredients are mixed everywhere, coriander especially is scattered through the lettuce.
On the plus side, the end product is nice and the dim sims are tasty.
EDIT: after owners reply. Yeah I donāt doubt the freshness of the ingredients, tasty and fresh. I was referring to the food being everywhere in the sandwich fridge. I have allergic reactions to coriander and asked for no coriander, but since ingredients in the sandwich fridge was absolutely everywhere, Some coriander got picked up in another ingredient, and ended up in my roll. Iāll see you guys tomorrow for a coriander free Banh Mi and a...
