Have previously eaten at this restaurant and had good food and good service, however I was completely appalled tonight after getting take away. The driver thumped hard on my door multiple times with his fist clearly impatient in the 5 seconds it took me to get to my front door. As I was holding my dog in one hand, I only had one hand to take the food. After giving me one bag of food in my free hand, the light rain became too much for him and he threw the second bag into my kitchen sink and ran away shouting in another language in an angry manner. On top of this bad delivery service I then received a box of cold, grey, soggy fried pork fat and bones (little actual pork meat) with a few onions which was supposed to be pork spare ribs, and my dad received a beef chow mein which wasn’t actually chow mein. It was a two layer dish, in the bottom was soggy, jelly-like beef in a flavourless gravy. Floating on top of which sat a layer of literally dry burned noodles. The top surface of the noodles was black and burnt and it looked like they’d thrown in a dry pack of noodles and heated it with a blowtorch, not bothering to mix it into the gravy below. There was no flavour to either dish and the meat was low quality and gelatinous. The most shocking aspect of it all is that our greedy little dog wouldn’t touch it. After reading some other reviews, I’ll be staying in close proximity to my toilet for the next 24 hours. So bad I won’t ever be ordering from these guys again. It’s a shame given the previously good service. Maybe...
Read moreBrookvale Chinese is a large restaurant located a short walk from Brookvale Oval on the Northern Beaches. The food is typical of a suburban Chinese restaurant, tasty family-friendly choices suited to all palates. The layout allows for large groups with round tables with the lazy susan in the middle, again typical of it's type.
It's fully licensed but caters for BYO with a corkage of $7 per bottle.
Service is rapid even when busy. One of it's best assets is location - if youre headig to Brookvale Oval, you can park close by and have dinner first, then walk to the stadium. This does mean you need to book if there's anything on at the stadium, but it's well worth it.
Highly recommended for a good night out, especially...
