Getbawi 갯바위 횟집 — Restaurant in Sydney

We had lunch at this place recently and ordered their nigiri sushi lunch set and grilled butter squid. Both dishes are great and we love them. The fish variety are good and they are really fresh fishes. The grilled BBQ was also nicely prepared and you can taste the freshness of the ingredient. Squids are hard to grill and if you over-cooked can become hard and rubbery, but they cooked it perfectly and nice buttery fragrant. The side dishes were good as well.

On second visit, I tried their popcorn mayo prawn and grilled marinated eel (unagi). Both are also good seafood dishes, but my favorite is the prawns ❤️.

Customer services are good and they will provide more radish kim chi if you want it. The place ambience is good as well, though the place does not have big space. Prices on the menu are reasonable for the seafood quality & portion you get.

Two of us ordered the medium assorted sashimi platter, squid pancake, the medium spicy fish stew, plus a 2 beer + 1 soju set and a makgeolli. Good portion sizes, great tasting food and fresh sashimi. I loved the banchan selection, which included some seafood items too. My only critique for the food is that the squid pancake was crispy, yet somehow a little soft and almost underdone inside.

The main reason for the 3 star review is the excessive 2 hour wait time once we wrote our name down. We waited from 4:55pm until 6:55pm on a Sunday. I understand there are limited tables inside and Getbawi is obviously a popular restaurant. The venue enforces a 2hr table seating time limit. However, this could easily be reduced to 90 minutes in busy periods. Personally, my table ate and left within 70 minutes and that provided us with plenty of time to properly enjoy our...

Feels a bit dodgy .... They take your food order before you sit if you single or a couple...(Minus one star) Layout is good but it's cozy and can feel a bit overcrowded. Got penalty of staff(two floor and two kitchen) Your second order take 30mins to arrive thou (that's for a jeon). Staff doesn't care about taking away empty plates nor they offer for refill of banchan. (Minus one star) The so called manger was focused on serving a table of three women rather then the whole area. I got crabcrow as service on my bill but I never received them but that table of three women got them instead.. is it because I'm not Korean??? (Minus one star) Btw their menu doesn't have any pics even on their online menu.... Anyway the food is good and they are crowded I spent a bit much here.
