The Feed Punchers thought thereās no better way to start off their Sunday than by punching a solid deli sandwich. This Sandwich Sunday led the lads to Good Ways deli in Redfern, which is a bakery, deli and cafe, situated on the streets corner.
-Firstly, the deli sandwich featured; Kangaroo mortadella, salami cotto, ham, pickles, onion, provolone, a special mayo and chilli paste. The flavours all complimented eachother, the spice from the chilli, the subtle vinegar from the pickles, the hit from the onion and of course the fatty mortadella. It was interesting how the kangaroo mortadella tasted just like pork mortadella, as kangaroo and pork taste completely different. The beauty of food processing.
-The Ham sandwich featured, obviously ham, sprouts, aged cheddar, pickles, Piccalilli and onion jam. The sandwich had an overarching sweetness from the onion jam, which tasted caramelised. There was a subtle spiced horseradish, mustardy taste, from the a piccalilli. The pickle added a nice vinegary component and the ham was melting, succulent and abundant.
-Overall, we appreciated the unique sandwiches, which featured carefully curated ingredients, all complimenting each other in the best...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLook, I'm all for small business and opening up long vacanct local shops like this, but I have to call this place out. The prices are ludicrous. Yesterday I paid $25 for a coffee and a sambo. My large coffee came in a small cup with the tide out, and luke warm by the time I waked the few minutes home, and the sambo, while interesting with kangaroo mortadella, was just a roll with a boiled egg, cheese and some lettuce leaves and the aforementioned slice of roo, was just ok, but serously, $25? This is Redfern, not Double Bay. It just doesn't stack up, value-wise. I actually walked back today and double checked they hadn't made a mistake, and they offered me my money back or a free coffee, but I declined. It was my fault for not checking before I waved my card. There's a dozen great joints within shot of this place where the food and coffee are as good or better, for sensible money. Sorry boys, but if you want to charge these prices the goods have to be primo, and that isn't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have walked past this particular Deli many times but it's usually shut when I do and I looked up the online reviews and decided that this morning I would get up early to go and have breakfast and coffee.
I'm so glad that I did! I could not decide what I wanted to eat and asked for them to pick the most popular sandwich and I ended up with the Deli Sandwich with chilli and it was genuinely a perfect combination of flavours and with enough toppings that I was easily full by the time I had eaten half my meal and decided I would take the other half for my lunch.
I ordered 2 coffees and genuinely they were absolutely great and I highly recommend these guys for any coffee lover.
10/10 on the staffs customer service with friendly chat and plenty of smiles among their team!
