Not our first time here and we were back for their annual truffle menu. First of all we wanted to order the truffle carbonara and the waitress serving advised that it was out of stock even though it was only 11am and second day into their truffle menu... We were fine with this at first and proceeded to order something else. However, 30 minutes later the couple next to us who arrived and ordered after us not only received their food first but behold came out the truffle carbonara that was ‘apparently’ out of stock. We asked a different waiter about this and they told us that the waitress must have misunderstood and changed our order for us. The triple brie toast was great and the carbonara was not as good as their previous years so it was not worth the trouble after all. When we finished these dishes a waitress came and took our plates away and we presumed the truffle tiramisu was going to follow shortly. Fast forward 20 minutes of waiting we asked where it was and they advised that we had to notify them in order for us to be served the tiramisu but no one bothered telling us or asking us if we wanted it to be served when they cleaned our tables... Soo if we hadn’t asked about it they would’ve just left us doing nothing for god knows how long?! There was no apology whatsoever and it took another 10 minutes when they said it’ll only be a couple of minutes, I would have just wanted to cancel if I knew it was going to take even longer. On top of all this, they charged us an 8% service surcharge on a Saturday and again this was not explicitly disclosed on the receipt or explained by anyone. We were happy to pay this to support the hospitality industry but this could have been better communicated instead of us having to find out through similar Google reviews. The dishes were subpar at most and the service was absolutely horrifying. After spending $117 for brunch it was a shockingly disappointing experience and I can confidently say that we won’t ever be...

Two stars down due to stressful atmosphere and service. We made a booking because weekends are currently really busy everywhere since COVID situation has improved. However, there are a few things left to desire: No tab water served unless requested and we had to ask twice for it Food took quite a while and another table of 3 that was sat 15 min after we placed our order had their Food first Menu's taken away as order is placed and no second chance to order a coffee No checking regarding food
Overall, we could tell the place was extremely understaffed. They had maybe 1 Manager and 2 waiters as well as some food runners to deliver food. All staff members were staring down as they delivered food near you and it seemed like they were avoiding to take orders due to capacity issues. We had no problem waiting for the food we ordered if it was at least communicated. Everything we received was delivered by someone that was completely out of breath. I think the atmosphere is extremely compromised by that. I feel for the poor staff that has to rush to keep up with the new customers pouring in. IMO, if you can't deliver a good dining experience due to lack of staff, maybe stop accepting customers and focus on the existing ones. I understand many businesses had lost a lot of money during covid but I'm sure you would gain more returning customers if you served them properly :( Then to charge a 10% service fee is... inappropriate to say the least. We paid $56 just for 2 meals and no drinks. The portion was delicious but way too small being just 1 slice of bread with mushrooms and greens. I am still hungry and $28 could get you a full...
Read moreIt's almost 2 months into truffle season and finally, I've had my first truffle feed! This was my first time here and I loved the venue from the moment I stepped inside. It's a pretty big cafe but it felt warm and cozy at the same time. I could easily spend hours here writing and editing, while enjoying several cups of coffee.
We started off with the Truffle & Mushroom Croque Monsieur. Sauteed mushrooms, braised cima di rapa, melted Tasmanian-smoked King Island cheddar are sandwiched between dark sourdough bread then grilled. It's then topped off with a fried egg, served alongside truffle mustard and pickles and finished off with shaved truffle. Loved the flavour and the addition of the pickles to break up that richness from the cheese and mushroom.
The Crispy Truffle & Parmesan Chips were so good to have on the table! We just kept going at them throughout the meal. Yes, they were crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. FYI, I dipped them into their truffle sauce and phwoar. That sauce contains real truffle (hence the name) and they do sell it! It was love at first taste so I bought one for home.
The Clay Pot BBQ Duck Rice was the winning dish. Presentation and flavour was just beautiful. This was filled with rice, Chinese sausage, gai-lan greens, roasted duck meat, spring onions, sticky shitake & straw mushrooms, sesame egg yolk and of course, topped off with shaved truffle. The duck was cooked beautifully and every mouthful was divine. The truffle sauce just took it up a notch!
Not only was the food delicious, but the staff were so lovely and...
