This recount is based on a true story...
It was a particularly warm March morning when I happened to stumble into the Henri Marc fine art gallery.
And what a delight it was!
Their inspiration was obviously a pastiche of global treats. Their artworks ranged from the humble egg, to the glorious dakkuh. Walking in there was a delight to all five senses. As one artwork would fly out to a patron, another would hastily fly out after it to another patron. For 9am on a Sunday morning the atmosphere in this gallery was electric.
I chose to have start my journey of the five senses with a latte. It was quickly delivered to me with a smile and sat down before me. As I gazed down into my foamy chalice, I was reminded of the many summers I spent trekking in Ethiopia or holidaying on the Indonesian Coast. The flavours from those roasted beans were heavily. The supplementary artwork which had been branded on top was second to none. A true homage to the humble latte.
Following this, my feta and roasted corn deconstructed salsa (for lack of a better definition) came garnishing my sour dough toast. A soft boiled egg adorning them both. Words cannot provide this masterpiece with an adequate recount of the flavour journey I had been taken on. However, if you are in the area I would highly recommend visiting Henri Marc as you will not be disappointed with their artworks.
It is not appropriate to call these culinary delights food. They go far beyond the realm of simple food. Hence why they have been referred to as artworks in...
Read moreDisappointed I didn’t get to try this place, I ordered a take away coffee 20 mins before I had an appointment, 10 mins later I asked where it was as I had an appointment to only get a disinterested ‘it’s coming’ from a waitress without her even checking… 5 mins before I had to leave I asked again and I said I had to leave shortly, again no check by the staff or indication of how far in the queue I was…. When I had to leave I told them I couldn’t wait any longer. No offer to refund or apology just a slightly confused look as if hadn’t made myself clear. Yes it’s a busy cafe but the 2 coffee guys are only making coffee, not serving or doing food… the place isn’t that big to justify over 20 mins (god knows how much longer it would have been to actually get the coffee) for a take away coffee anywhere, been to far busier places that can knock them out far more efficiently and staff that actually listen and check when a customer raises a concern/query. Very disappointing and I won’t bother trying again when there are many other great...
Read moreI heard about the drama of this place being super rude so I wanted to check it out. I had just finished a bout of Muai Thai kick boxing and was itching for a fight.
I rocked up and was served by this random young lady who was oddly polite. She gave me a big smile which is expected given most women flirt with me anyway. Unlucky for them I'm happily married to a supermodel.
She took my order, no drama. Pretty disappointed.
My coffee came out promptly. Getting ready to punch on I tasted my coffee. It was delicious. Disappointed again.
As I was keen for a fight , we stayed past closing hours, expecting to be abused.
They let us stay 10 mins after they close then politely told us they were closing. Couldn't be angry at how reasonable this was.
Overall got a fantastic cafe experience , but no drama unfortunately.
