The two store staff rostered on during our visit were pretty rude and clearly not in the mood to deal with customers. There were 4 stools stacked inside in the corner of the store and after getting our order we asked if we could take two down to sit on and we were told that we weren't allowed, by the manager, because she'd already cleaned them for the night. Fair enough if we'd come in at closing but they had over an hour before they shut? There were tables outside that hadn't been packed up but it was 13°, windy, and my friend has a chest infection so we couldn't stay out there so we ended up just having to sit in my car. It's cold and you sell gelato, maybe if you want to pack anything up it should be the outside tables? Really silly that there were seats and space inside that we weren't allowed to use, and on top of that they were rude about it. They store doesn't have very good in/out flow for customers, they possibly had another door that just wasn't open, or maybe the store is just poorly designed. The music playing was pretty loud, and for some reason, when there was a flood of people, the guy turned it up even louder?? It was already tricky to hear and be heard. Gelato is the same great Messina standard you get at all their stores but the customer service is WAY better in the...
Read moreOne Star – Messina Penrith’s Poor Service and Small Scoops
Messina Penrith has completely dropped the ball when it comes to quality and service. It’s no secret that Messina HQ has advised staff to give smaller scoops, as confirmed in their email thread, but the Penrith location takes this to a whole new low. The staff consistently serve undersized portions, and their poor technique in scooping the gelato makes the experience even worse.
I specifically showed them a photo from another Messina location where two scoops were generously served, yet they handed me a half-empty cup as if to prove a point. It feels like the staff here intentionally give less and use the “struggle to scoop” as an excuse.
For a premium brand like Messina, this lack of consistency is unacceptable. If this is the new standard, then it’s a clear message to customers that value for money is no longer a priority. Extremely disappointed and will be avoiding this location...
Read moreDisappointing experience in Penrith store. The girl who served me probably just a trainee or someone new. She got me the smallest scoop i've ever seen, the ice cream was barely touch the cone rim. She was struggling to get the scoop right, because the ice cream was almost finish to the bottom and kinda harden already. I couldn't complain straight away (just don't wanna appear so petty), so I was scrolling down my phone to find a picture of the one that I bought from Bondi store, while eating that disappointment-ice-cream. When I showed the picture to my partner, she insisted to make a complaint. She went back to the store, and the girl denied it.
So in case if your staff need a portion size guidelines, here is what a 1 scoop look like. At least according to...
