Firstly - I want to start by saying the below experience is not the most recent issue we have had with this place. However, the quality of their food generally got them over the line. From running out of chicken multiple times by lunch, to there exceptional wait times and rude staff - we were willing to let that go. That was until Christmas Eve. Mind you, we order from this place probably twice a month, and in decent quantity.
Anyway - We placed an order online, stating the pick up time at 7pm on Christmas Eve. We had dinner plans of 20+ adults to celebrate this wonderful time of the year. We received confirmation that the restaurant had received the order (screenshot on hand to confirm). We arrived at the store at 6:30 pm, to be on the safe side, expecting them to be busy. We were greeted by the cleaner who said they were closed, and there was no order for them to pick up. They apparently closed at 5 pm. No one called to tell us otherwise, and clearly the system was not set up to tell us they were closed.
Our frustration was evident pretty quickly, and we basically just walked out, and tried to decide where we would get chicken to feed the 20 + people who were arriving imminently. As we walked to the car, the cleaner raced towards us, phone in hand, stating the owner would like to talk to us. Very kind of him.
The owner quickly went on the defensive, claimed there must of been a glitch in the system, that there is no way you could of placed that order (we had a screenshot of the order we placed so we knew this was a lie), and basically, putting it on us that it was our fault. No apology, and just a condescending attitude. She ended the call with a very smug “Merry Christmas, Ciao” and that was it. No conversation on how she could fix the situation, no options on other places we could go to. But again, and the most crucial part that was missing, no apology. It was Christmas, and she acted line an absolute Grinch.
Will never. EVER. eat from this place again. If I could vote 0 stars, I would.
Go to KFC. Dealing with a 14 year old who fails my drive thru order twice in a row still shows more competence...
Read moreThose in the know will already be frequenting Inflames Charcoal Grill on a Monday and Tuesday night for their $20 all-you-can-eat chargrilled chicken, garlic sauce, Mediterranean salad, and chips. A family-run business, Inflames is operated by locals for locals, and their passion is evident in their food and warm hospitality.
I had the pleasure of sampling their menu and in the great tradition of Sunday feasting, enjoyed an abundance of mouth-watering Lebanese dips (hommus, baba ghanouj, labne), salads (tabbouli, fatoush, cauliflower florets, traditional rice, Greek salad, marinated grilled vegetables) and succulent chargrilled meats (lamb, beef, kafta) not forgetting the aforementioned chargrilled chicken and garlic sauce. Plus all those wonderful appetisers of kibbi, falafel, sambusik and olives and pickles.
It’s not your standard fast food charcoal chicken shop with a spacious and pleasant dining area adjacent the takeaway service area. But if all you’re after is a quick meal or takeaway, there are no shortage of options with wraps and meal deals. And being a short stroll from Castle Towers makes it a good option for a delicious and great value meal away from the hustle and bustle of the shopping...
Read moreThe food here is undeniably tasty – fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired and overshadowed the dining experience.
We arrived at 8pm and were told the kitchen closes at 8:40, which seemed reasonable. However, before i could even settle in, the server rushed over, shoved menus at me, and demanded i order immediately at the counter. When I asked for a moment, she insisted she wasn’t rushing but also made it clear i couldn’t sit and review the menu at the table. This created an awkward and unwelcoming start.
Once our order was placed, the food was brought out and rather unceremoniously dropped in front of us. While the dishes themselves were excellent, the lack of care in service was disappointing.
The atmosphere was also underwhelming – very basic, with plastic plates and visible taped-up plastic sheeting that made the space feel like it was mid-renovation.
In short, great food but poor service and a setting that doesn’t justify the “dine-in” prices. With more attentive and professional service, this place could...
