Went for the first time today and can't at all say my experience matched the price that I ended up paying. Admission to see a film is $42 per adult, which along with that price only came a complimentary coke.
When we entered we were not greeted at all, and today's bar staff was not the most welcoming, actually more on the blunt side - not inherently unhospitable but absolutely not coming off otherwise. I did enjoy the cocktail menu, the options were broad with an option for all tastes!
In all honesty, I really did not find the seating to be much better than the Xtremescreen at Hoyts that you can get a ticket to for (at time of writing) $28 - the only difference in seating is that Gold Class is slightly more spacious with one big platform for food and one small platform for up to two drinks to fit. Also your seat is a multifaceted recliner, the legs and the back being independent of eachother - so there is separate switches for the back of your seat and the legs of your seat. However, the back recliner in my partners seat was not working, she was very disappointed. This being the case, there is less people per cinema and it was nice enough to have a less crowded feeling, but the value and overall experience relative to price paid falls short dramatically.
The food wasn't bad in quality by any means, however the portions of sauce served with the chips and chicken were incredibly small. On top of our chips coming out cold, it is not what you expect when you're paying $15 for simple chips. $25 for a pizza that was very light on the toppings was also not what you expected to see.
At no point did any staff come and take away our plates or empty cups that we had stacked and put to the side for them to grab, our platforms ended up very very crowded.
The screen in the cinema I was in today was filthy. Cinema four in the top right hand corner and central left to the screen had a lot of very dark looking filth, it surely was not a somehow sudden heap of dirt or web, it looked like it had sat there and worsened over a long period of time. This was very noticeable throughout the film.
Overall, I cannot see any reason to return to Gold Class at all by any means, I'd mostly tried it out for the novelty as they present themselves as being a much better experience than they deliver but as described above, your experience relative to what you pay does not match whatsoever. Hoyts Xtremescreen and a proper restaurant is absolutely where you are better off going to catch those...
Read moreDear Event Cinemas, Tonight I went to watch a movie at your non-gold class section and I was absolutely appalled and disgusted at the female bathroom facilities. As soon as I opened the door, I was assaulted by a stench that was so powerful I thought you may have a dead possum in the near vicinity. And I tell you, I know my stenches. I am a nurse, and I've smelt a lot. This. Was. Powerful. I entered the first stall and encountered a monstrous turd sitting in a blocked bowl with toilet paper hanging out like some party confetti. That is NOT a party I want to be a part of. I entered the next stall, and gently placed my bag on the slip-hazard fluid that was on the floor as there was no hooks on the back of the graffiti covered doors. I am unsure as to whether it was urine or leaking toilet water on the floor, but either way, you got yourself an OHS issue there, as well as a purely disgusting issue. It was appaling. On top of that, the toilet paper I used had been soaked in water prior and was now all wrinkled and damp. Awesome! I hope it wasn't soaked in dirty water prior, because I am currently infection-free and prefer to remain that way. Now - I would understand a disgusting service if say, it wasn't Tuesday, and you guys were busy. I'm not an unreasonable person. But I had 30 mins prior been to the gold class cinemas where 4 of your employees were standing having a chat in the bar area and doing no work. Whilst I appreciate a little time for fun and frivolity of these young ones is great, and also so is team building, surely a manager somewhere could have said, at some point during their shift "yo guys, you gettin' paid. How about you check on them toilets?" Because it takes a lot of visits to get a toilet into THAT sort of state, even if an Irritable Bowel Syndrome convention had just been to the movies. The gold class cinema was completely empty. There were 2 staff members working in the non-gold class section, and both were working hard. One was serving customers, the other was cleaning and making sure the candy bar looked good. And they smiled a lot more then the gold class people, and even tried to upsell. Fantastic customer service there from those 2. I've been going to your cinema my whole 28 years. And it's not cheap and I don't expect pristine service. But God damn, if you are going to serve gonorrhoea and a punch of odour in the face with your movie tickets when I go for a wee, then please, reduce your...
Read moreI bought two child tickets a week before the movie and planned it all out with my friend. Even like what food to purchase and everything about it. But when we entered gold class, they asked to check our id and said that we COULD NOT go in because we were under 18 without a parent watching with us. Why the he'll would we bring a parent to watch for two friends going out to have some fun celebrating no more school exams? So annoying and stupid. Never recommending Gold class again I told them my situation and that no one told me or give me information about that. I have gone to gold class before and loved the experience. When I told the staff they said that they expect everyone to literally open and check all the thousands of small letters in the terms and conditions and privacy information when you click a box that says you agree to it. They expected everyone to read a billion tiny words before the booking is closed? And find the one tiny sentence that says under 18 with a parent isn't allowed. So frustrating. All they said was they would either refund us or send us to normal cinemas and give us the rest of the money back. We already planned everything out and it was already ruined. It was 9pm as well. So we just decided to watch in normal cinemas. We are cinebuz and telstra members so we can get tickets for only 11 dollars. But when people at the normal cinema made the change, they forced us to pay the normal $14.50 dollar ticket, so more wasted money, and they didn't even give us the $4 online booking fee back. đ. Very bad experience and so stupid. Ruined the whole plan. Movie was good though, but I just wish they would've told anyone or remind us that we just bought 2 CHILD tickets. And we were planning to get food in gold class and made the decisions too. No one should trust them. We paid $90.70 for the 2 tickets and the no4mal cinema tickets shouldve been $29 for both. But they only have us $51 back. We only found out after the movie when we...
