Kabul Sydney Restaurant — Restaurant in Sydney

Hello,

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for the past three years and have always enjoyed the food. However, my recent visit on February 18, 2025, at 9:30 PM was disappointing.

I dined in with seven family members, all eager to try Kabuli cuisine. Unfortunately, throughout our meal, a cat (possibly stray or a pet) repeatedly came under our table—four times in total. Each time, the ladies at our table were startled and frightened. Despite the staff removing the cat and apologizing, it kept returning.

This raises serious concerns:

Food Hygiene & Safety: The cat was repeatedly taken inside the kitchen, raising the risk of contamination, including cat hair in the food. Customer Service: When I requested a concession for the repeated disturbances, the staff responded rudely, dismissing our concerns and suggesting we leave a review instead. Given the circumstances, I feel compelled to escalate this matter further by filing a formal complaint with the Food Safety Department and Consumer Court.

My Carer is from Afghanistan and thanks to her we had the most delicious Afghan food for lunch and all the dishes were cooked the traditional way. The staff English wasn’t the best that’s why I was lucky that my carer was able to communicate in afghan especially to explain my allergies otherwise wouldn’t have known what to order, even though the menu has some food photos and written in English. If you like spicy food that is full of flavor and you’re in the Merrylands area then I highly recommend this restaurant. The food tasted good overall but the Mantu is really sweet and is filled with onions instead of mince meat when people pay for Mantu but eat onion dumplings.

Ashaks are half empty, so flat and you barely see leeks in them. 10 sweet Mantu dumplings for $22 and 10 flat empty Ashak dumplings for $22. Why pay that much and end up leaving the restaurant hungry?

The toilet, hand washing station/area/ customer service desk etc requires your urgent attention. Too filthy/dirty. The toilet walls, especially door is too dirty especially the carpets near the toilet and everywhere else. Toilet is next to the kitchen.
