Kent St. Hotel — Restaurant in Sydney

The Kent Street Hotel does good pub food. The pub is located at street level, about a 5 minute walk from Town Hall Station.

We came here for the $15 steak special as we were recommended by another family member to do so. It was a good meal. The steak was cooked well to each of our preferences. You could taste the charred flavour from the grill. There is a choice of sauce to go with the steak. I liked that it was in a side container and not poured directly onto the steak. That way the chips stayed nice and crispy. Everything was well seasoned. The steak and chips were a good temperature. There was a generous serve of mixed leaf salad with dressing. The plate was well presented too.

Service was good and couldn't be faulted. We were given a friendly greeting on arrival. Staff were upbeat, friendly, helpful and courteous. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Staff also let us sit and chat and didn't hurry us to leave which I appreciated.

The pub has a good vibe. The colour scheme is good. There is a mix of high stools, tables and chairs and lounge type seating.

Are you hankering for a mid-afternoon meal? Do you like upbeat chill music, good food and entertaining people watching opportunities? Then this is the place for you! Staff are great, attentive but give you space, and the food is yum. Really yum. The crispy chicken burger is hella crispy, and yet perfectly juicy and succulent, with sweet spicy salty fries to match. The brisket burger is arguably better because who doesn’t love 18hr slow cooked beef brisket with fresh slaw, but that may be a biased opinion. I don’t care. The Margherita has buffalo mozzarella AND cherry tomatoes, and the crusts are well worth eating. Beers are cold and delicious. Cocktails are made to perfection. Men in suits and women in also suits walk past you for unintended visual stimulation. This place is great....

I always told myself, “Next time, I’ll try this place!” every time I walked by—and today, I finally did! (Well, I live just upstairs, so no more excuses!) I grabbed a takeaway to enjoy at home, and wow, I’m so glad I did.

The staff were super friendly and patient, happily answering all my questions. They’ve got great value lunch and dinner sets, and the place is really clean and cozy too!

I went for the $15 lunch steak set, and honestly—it blew me away. It’s hard to find this kind of value in the city! Eating such a satisfying lunch at home seriously made my day.

This place just became my new go-to spot. I’ll definitely be back—and if you’re reading this, don’t miss out! Huge thanks to the team for such a tasty lunch and a great experience!
