I appreciate that Lola Cucina have only just opened their Narrabeen branch and the place was FULL on Friday night. However, we had a 6:45pm booking and promptly placed our order with a very helpful waiter, knowing we may have to wait a little for our food.
Unfortunately, we had to wait over an hour to receive our drinks!
And 2 hours to receive our paella!!
The rest of the food came out in drips after an hour and literally, one tapas plate at a time. Funnily, once you asked for the bill, that came in minutes (be warned you will be charged a card service fee)!
The wait staff are lovely but overworked and overwhelmed. They had 1 staff member on the bar which is not enough a full restaurant of approximately 50-70 heads, all requiring some form of beverage with their meal. We kept asking about our drinks and they kept telling us it was coming.
The food was excellent once it arrived but again not enough staff in the kitchen, cooking the food in a timely manner.
And, personally myself, I kept getting bumped by the wait staff as they have crammed in too many tables on the bottom floor.
It is fantastic have a Spanish restaurant on the beaches, and I have been to the Crows nest restaurant, so I know service can be good.
Hire more staff, get a better manager who actually assists the staff, manages the restaurant how it should be and this place can be great.
But give it a few months or go on a quiet weekday night until they sort our staffing issues. Disappointed but has potential...
Read moreI went there couple of days ago with my wife and we were very excited because we do love Spanish food! We ordered the garlic bread and the ceviche as starters. The garlic bread was ok, good bread and the butter of garlic was very good as expected. The ceviche was definitely a disaster. The woman from the restaurant told us that it was good but she was wrong. I`ve never had a ceviche as bad as this one. It was a bunch of DORITOS, with pico de gallo (tomato, onion and capsicum chopped), a bit of lemon and FREEZED prawn chopped on top. It was disgusting. Even without eating that, you could see that the prawn was defrosted minutes ago. It looked very white and very cold when we ate that, completely disgusting and disappointing. After that, we ordered the mains that was two seafood paella with squid, fish and some other stuff. Another very frustrating experience. When it arrived was so pretty, all the ingredients were black because of the paint of the octopus but when we started eating that was so bad. No salt AT ALL, no seasoning, looks like that cooked everything in the water and put that directly on plate for us. Very...
Read moreWe came to Lola Covina Restaurant on a whim as i had drove past it earlier in the day and me and my partner LOVE tapas. We had not had a ‘proper’ one in what must be over a year. Wow what a great one to go back to. First off the ambience and theme of the restaurant was beautiful like a nepalese spanish style. We ordered the ‘unlimited’ tapas which was cheap for two and had our fill and more of the select tapas dishes. Every dish was unbelievable, not one bad thing to say about any of them. The standouts for us. The paella croquets, the prawns, the chorizo, the starting rice, potatas bravas and the meatballs. Every dish catered for two with generous portions for each and on the deal we could even order more at no additional cost. The food came promptly and was well presented on beautiful wooden boards in small ceramic tapas like dishes. The main star however was the waiter, although i didn’t catch his name he was a credit to the establishment. Friendly, informative and even cracked a few jokes with us as well as handling the rest of the restaurant. 5/5 will most...
