I hate to leave bad reviews as I understand there’s a lot of hard work that goes into running a business, but I feel like I have to give an honest review of my dining experience at The Majestic Indian Restaurant.
I am a big fan of Indian cuisine and I’ve had many butter chickens (typical, I know) and the one here was not up to standard. The sauce was far too tomatoey and sweet.
Maybe some people prefer theirs this way, and that’s fair enough - but it doesn’t end there. The tandoori lamb cutlets were chewy, bland, and hard to eat. I am not sure if these aren’t marinated long enough, they are definitely lacking flavour and I’ve had far better elsewhere.
The service was great, the restaurant is nice, but ultimately it’s about the food and it wasn’t up to standard at all.
With all that said, I’m mainly leaving this review so that others may see it and realise that the reviews left don’t properly reflect the food - I’d say that’s because the restaurant is new and I would assume a lot of the 5 star reviews are from friends and family, if you look into the reviews you’ll see a lot of 1 review accounts.
Maybe one day I’ll give them a second chance, but it definitely won’t be for...
Read moreI don’t like leaving bad reviews as I know how hard People work in small business. Saying that I have to leave This review in hope that the Majestic restaurant can do better in the future. We had the salt and pepper squid that was from a bag frozen. The tandoori lamb was chewy And bland. The garlic Naan bread was lacking taste. The restaurant itself was cold noisy from the phone ringing on loud speaker and the noise from the kitchen. I was horrified when I needed use the bathroom, basically the toilet is in the kitchen. I don’t know how this is aloud. We went to this restaurant because we had a NSW dine voucher, but when I went to pay the bill and use the voucher code the lady behind the counter told me the scanner was with the delivery driver and he wouldn’t be back for 15 minutes and that I should have told her earlier that I was using the voucher, maybe I should have. For the two of us the bill came to $85. Unfortunately we won’t be back. Very disappointing. ps. We should have spent our hard earned money on Rosin Court across the road...
Read moreThe Majestic is one of the hidden gems of great-quality Indian food in Sutherland and the shire overall. It is all great tasting, and one of the things I really love is that every dish has a unique taste and flavour, compared to some that all taste just the same.
Been visiting them since they opened up and quality has stayed the same. Service is very friendly and comfortable.
My only reason for giving it a 4 on Atmosphere is that it is a small location but always pleasant, and in summer, the outdoor area is lovely.
I've lived in London and often visited Brick Lane and travelled in India, so I'm always looking for great Indian food; I heard my other fav over in Strathfield has closed, so this is now in my top three of Indian food in Sydney.
Note: It is not licensed so fully BYO and the BWS is approx 50 metre walk in the same building complex, so you don't even need to bring!
Another FYI, the do have a lamb jalfrazi and we found that if we asked they can do a chicken jalfrazi which is really...
