Stunning Turkish food ! Our first visit to Mezepotamia and we'll be back. We felt we were transformed back to Turkey - fantastic. Authentic Turkish food, all fresh and tasty. Warmly welcomed by Jessica who was fantastic all night (and made great cocktails). We shared a range of food - all delicious. For starters: Smoked eggplant dip (baba ganoush) - charred eggplant, roasted pistachio, Turkish chilli flakes sauce served with two large pieces of turkish bread. The turkish bread was warm, crusty with soft inside (and as a result we ordered more) - yum. We also had the grilled halloumi, roasted walnuts, fig marmalade - orange sauce which was served in two pieces (and the turkish bread soaked up any left over sauce) - perfectly cooked and sweet and tasty. For main course we shared the Kuzu Tandir (slow-cook lamb leg, veggie şehriye (orzopasta) which was incredible - the lamb soft, tender and flavourful - and I have to say is a signature dish. And we shared a Mezepotamia salad (wild rocket, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, tulum cheese) which was the perfect accompaniment for the lamb. The location of Mezepotamia is in the square of the Italian Forum in Leichhardt - and it transforms you back to Turkey by creating a great relaxed atmosphere. Lots of outdoor seating too which we loved. Free 2hr parking at Secure Parking (if validated). I've already booked our next visit !

Dear Fellow Food Enthusiasts, Prepare yourselves for an unforgettable culinary journey! Food: The dishes served here are a masterclass in authentic Turkish cuisine. Each plate showcases not just quality ingredients, but also the unmistakable love and care that goes into the preparation. The flavors are so distinct that even a day later, they remain etched in my memory. Atmosphere: Forget you're in a restaurant; it’s as if you've been welcomed into a Turkish home. Managed entirely by a husband-wife duo—the husband helms the kitchen while the wife oversees the dining area—their personal touch envelops you in warmth and genuine hospitality. Service: Now this is where they truly shine! Despite finding the portion sizes a bit lacking initially, my entire perspective changed when the wife approached me post-meal. Sensing that I was still hungry, she graciously offered to bring additional dishes, on the house. Such attentiveness and generosity are simply unparalleled and embody the essence of Turkish hospitality. This place is a hidden gem that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone with an affinity for Turkish cuisine. Rest assured, I will be making frequent returns to this exceptional establishment. 💎

Love this place! I’ve been to Mezepotamia twice this year. The first time was on Valentine’s Day with my partner, and we tried their set menu. It offered great variety, and my partner—who normally won’t touch oysters—loved them here. They came with a delicious vinaigrette. We also met the owner, who was very attentive and warm. Despite it being a busy night, our food was served promptly and everything was of the highest standard. The second time, we went with a group of friends a few weeks ago, and it was even better than the first! We were a group of five and ordered a selection of dishes to share. Each of us picked a dish: onion dolma, lamb shish, kibbeh, manti, roasted cauliflower, and we added the potatoes. It was the perfect amount for five people, and everything was absolutely delicious. My favorite is still the onion dolma—chef’s kiss! I also ordered a gimlet, which was made exceptionally well. I’ll definitely be back soon and have already been recommending this spot to all my friends. If you love bold flavors and a fantastic atmosphere, this is the place for you!

I’m generally not one to write negative reviews, as I understand the impact they can have on a small business, but I feel I must in this case.

I visited with four friends and we shared a few select items from the menu. While the food was passable, we were generally underwhelmed by both the portion sizes and the flavours. The standout was the tavuk, which was well-cooked: crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by poor service, which is ultimately why I wouldn’t return or recommend this restaurant. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty, the waitress was noticeably rude in her communication. When we ordered the hummus, she remarked, “Well, you can’t eat it without bread,” in a tone that felt condescending. It’s not about the added cost, but the principle—why offer something on the menu that clearly isn’t complete on its own, then make guests feel like they’ve made a mistake for ordering it?

She also placed our plates down abruptly and later came by repeatedly to rush us, asking, “Are you finished now?” Only when checking if we were ready to pay the bill did she mention the table was reserved… despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Which again isn’t an issue if she had communicated that properly.

There are far more respectful and professional ways to engage with guests, especially considering the kind of experience the restaurant seems to aim for. I left disappointed with both the food and, more significantly, the service.

As a side note, there was another waiter who was very kind and respectful however he was not attending...
