Sadly, I’ll never come back and recommend you try elsewhere too. Save your money and time. Ordered two pizzas (had a conversation with the waiter about one, confirmed the order, and my friend literally made a joke asking if she would remember everything as she wasn’t writing anything down). Yet we only got one pizza. Friend’s pizza arrived about 5 minutes later, and placed only in front of her - so figured mine would be there soon. Sadly 20 minutes later (when my friend had one slice left and after endlessly trying to get their attention), we had to go inside and ask where it was. We were then informed ‘you only ordered on’ - untrue - so we brought up the recommendation conversation and waiter suddenly remembered. Another 15/20 minutes later, at closing time, my pizza arrived with a whisper of a ‘sorry oops hah’! They were closing, so I had to rush my pizza, after my friend was completely finished, in 5 minutes as staff cleared up chairs around us. Not even an offer of a glass of wine while we waited, or any hint of a proper apology for ruining dinner and instead we were charged the full fare of $77. This is some of the poorest, lacklustre service I have ever experienced. While the pizza was ok, it was rather salty and not enjoyable due to the poor experience. Go to one of the better, nicer and more attentive pizza places in Surry Hills or elsewhere. UPDATE: This owner reply below sadly demonstrates the lack of customer service or care. It’s a shame so much attention to detail, like apparently noting that my pizza came at 9:48, can’t be applied to paying customers at the time.

My friend knows the way to my heart: through my stomach. They raved about La Coppola in Redfern, and let me tell you, I owe them big time. This place is an absolute gem. Forget diamonds, give me a wood-fired oven and a never-ending supply of garlic bread any day. Speaking of which, the garlic bread here is legendary. Crispy, chewy, and generously seasoned, it was like a warm, buttery hug from a nonna I never had. Then came the garlic prawns, sizzling in a miniature volcano of deliciousness. The prawns were so plump and juicy, I almost considered proposing marriage right then and there. But let's be real, I was here for the pizza. And the Mt Etna? Oh. My. God. This pizza was a flavor explosion in my mouth. Spicy salami, gooey cheese, a perfectly charred crust – it was like a party on my taste buds. I'm pretty sure I achieved a state of nirvana while devouring this masterpiece. And because no Italian feast is complete without a sweet ending, I indulged in the tiramisu. It was light, creamy, and not too boozy, which is perfect because nobody wants to end up doing the tarantella on the table after one too many spoonfuls. La Coppola is the kind of place that makes you want to shout your love from the rooftops (or at least post a very enthusiastic Instagram story). It's loud, it's lively, and the food is so good, it should be illegal. I'll be back, and next time, I'm bringing my friend along so they can witness my undying gratitude (and maybe pay for my meal).

"Take the rest home, pizza stone" is my rating of the sturdy, crispy and fluffy Sicilian slices being served out of this (New) Redfern staple. Now, I know pizza, I don't know a great deal outside of Dominoes, Napolitano, Manoosh and whatever trash Bondi Pizza slings. What I do know: Sicily is the homeland of an all time top 3 bread, Foccacia. The base has many qualities of it's mother dough, giving this pizza a sandwich quality of pristine calibre. The toppings won't slip and slide like a Napoli slice or if pan pie from Pizza Hut is left to steam in it's box — they are kept simple but high quality. There's a magic to this wildfire oven and the moustached man moderating the pies through that wood smoke, infusing that taste and nailing that texture (we had a porchetta pie too and now I want to smoke cook all my charcuterie) La Coppola is more Francis Ford, less Nic Cage 😘👌

My gosh, ok so the owner suggested he had proudly perfected the best gluten free pizza base ever. People often make absurd claims. So I wasn't phased. We ordered some pizza's and to my amazement ours was soooo insanely good! There was and usually is a line up to this AMAZING gem of a place. I can officially say this is by far the best gluten free pizza I've ever had in my life. And... I've had a lot around the world & locally in Sydney!!! I have no idea how they do it, you wouldn't know it was gf, so much so...I was even worried that they made an error. They didn't, it really IS that good! I would drive to this place & know people that drive over an hour to eat gf meals here. Yes, it really is that good! The staff are lovely. They're a few minutes walk from Redfern train station. You will not regret visiting (I should add friends had normal pizza's etc here and they were equally as amazing!) The owners know what they're doing! A labour of love, this place is worth traveling to, no matter where in Sydney you are!!! (Call ahead though, as COVID seating or hours...
