Sorry, but, No Thanks. Here is my little experience at one of the local pubs, Tudor Hotel, it used to be very popular for great food and a friendly local pub.... must have been a while ago.. now, ,I won't even rate it with my time. We stayed in the pub, just long enough for 1 beer and to eat. We didn't even continue for a drink in the beer garden or the bar, even a flutter on the pokies. The bistro was enough for us Food was overpriced and small portioned. We had Prawn Linguine and Pan Fried Barramundi with 'roasted vegies' and a side order of fries. Sad to say we won't be going there to eat again. The linguine came out a fist size portion, oily and 5 prawns , we weren't sure if it was an entree, but for $29 it wasn't an entree price. The Barramundi $29 was a top fillet of the tail end, also just the size of the palm of a hand, it was dry and the vegetables, 3 half broccolini stems and 6 sweet potato cubes with a dash of beetroot. The side of chips were leathery and tasteless, maybe the 'black and gold' steak chips, as these weren't fresh. Bistro kitchen was tiny.. decor and setting was too overcrowded with more tables crammed in to one space than needed. Service was ordinary, ordered at the bar, and the bartender couldn't give us feedback of what was on the menu....she just wasn't polite. For a pub "bistro"..we, surely won't be heading back there anytime to soon. Maybe we got the chef on an off day, maybe they were too busy seeing that we were the only 2 ppl sitting in the bistro at the time. Well, whatever it was, we won't be wasting the walk there to eat again . Yuck! There are plenty of other decent options in our area, better prices and much...

In my 24 years of life I have never written a negative restaurant review, but the management at this pub infuriated me so much that I feel this is the least they deserve.

I ordered a fish dish with 'Sumac. Shitake. Asparagus. Lemon risotto' (as written on menu) for $28. I was told I could replace the risotto with chips if I wished. So I said yes please. When the dish came out there was just a piece of fish on top of chips, and that was it. For $28 at a pub, no f'ing way!

I figured there must have been some confusion and was brushed off by a waiter who told me there was nothing he could do, so I went to the manager who also told me there was nothing he could do, and very rudely said that the risotto was pre-mixed and you could not pick the rice out of it. I said I understand that, but if it had been explained to me that I would lose half the meal by replacing the rice with chips I wouldn't have done it. The menu presented it as though the lemon risotto was seperate from the vegetables and fish. He still refused to just take off the chips and put the risotto on. Would have been such an easy fix for a problem caused by the false advertising on their menu. Absolutely zero customer service.

Finally I managed to speak to the chef who was kind and understanding of the situation and changed the chips for me - thank you to her. But the manager totally ruined the evening and my...

I went on steak special night and asked to swap the fried for mash potatoes. The staff said that was not possible (which must be the only place in Australia that doesn’t swap fries for mash). They explained that when the dish is on special they can’t swap which I thought is fair enough. So I checked with my partner if they really wanted the mash. Then we decided to order one out of the special with the Mash swap and one in the special with the fries. Payed 85.26$ for this plus some entrees. Later on only one main dish arrived and then I learned that the staff only ordered one dish even though there was a hole conversation about how it should be. Then they came to the table to charge for the additional main dish which at this point I thought I needed to check the bill to see if wasn’t charged because 85 seemed a bit excessive. They really didn’t demonstrate that they want to bring the bill and then I learned that to swap the fries for Mash you have to pay an ADDITIONAL 5$!!! So at the end of the day we got the exactly same dish, one for 22$ with fries and one for 35$$ with mash. I’ve no idea what’s going on with this place but it seems like the staff is either not trained properly or the owners...

Tudor is synonymous with Redfern. It’s walking distance to the train station and a very popular pub. If you’re going on Fridays it’s better to call and make a reservation coz it can be full. The place is spacious and there are many pockets of areas. Order at the counter, collect your drinks and they’ll bring across the food to your table. I’ve had various types of dishes at Tudor over the years. From Bangers and Mash to Burgers to Pies. The food never disappoints at Tudor. It’s always tasty and large portions (most often I can’t finish it). If you’ve not been here it’s worth a visit coz it’s a really great pub. There’s an area for pokies as well

Oi oi oi ou usually love the Tudor, went in for a quick schnitty yeah and gotta say was absolutely blown away by the overcooked doll house frisbee that was served. Infact this photo does it justice, considering a chip was thicker than the chicken I couldn't not throw a warning on here. Not sure who thought they'd get away with serving 2g of chicken between burnt bread crumbs but I have to throw it in here for fellow members of the Schnitty Committee. Only reason I'm not giving it a 1 star is because the Tudor itself is a good place but serving this was piss poor effort. Giving it 1 glassed individual out of 16
