Terrible service for takeaway orders. My mum went to order a Spicy Tempura fish don in sweltering 35 degree weather and they gave her the wrong order. We only found out after we came home. Called them to inform them and there was no apology only an offer that if we came in they could make us a new one. No other mention of how they would right the wrong and no acknowledgement of the mistake either. She had to drive back 20mins in the heat to collect the correct order. Also, no cutlery or serviettes provided in a takeaway order. In the past, when I've had the incorrect order I've always been given a refund plus the correct order was then delivered to me. And these were places in a similar price range who went above and beyond. Teenage staff have no idea what they're doing. Highly disappointed as we use to eat here often. ADDIT: So after we drove back and got the "freshly made" correct order I noticed that the onsen egg was broken (because I had stuck my spoon into it before in my old incorrect bowl) meaning they had essentially just used the order I had taken back and switched out the pieces of chicken for fish. I also made a mark on the bowl I had previously which was still there so I'm sure they had just reused my old order. I called back to ask if this was the case and of course they tried to deny it. Honestly, the previous matter was more of a service issue but using old food and claiming it's a new freshly made order is a food and safety issue at this point. I understand the rice was probably fine but keeping the broken egg from my returned order instead of throwing it out and having the audacity to just LIE and claim it was all freshly made just isn’t the right thing to do. If they were willing to do this to me, just imagine how many incorrect orders are being taken back and reheated and given to new customers under the guise of being freshly prepared. I will be making a FORMAL COMPLAINT to the head office, local council and NSW Food Authority regarding this. It’s shocking that after calling twice regarding their mistakes there was not one acknowledgment of their mistake nor any apology offered not even a “sorry we got you the wrong order” just excuses and lies to cover up and this is coming from their manager too. Please think twice before eating here. See attached for image of the broken egg and mark I made on my first bowl that was still there on my “freshly made” order. I’m laughing as I bet they didn’t even notice.

Atmosphere: The restaurant is not big and has a relaxing, casual atmosphere. Ordering is done at the cashier (instead of having staff taking orders at your table). I believe they also use an app ordering system however at our visit we were told to order at the cashier. Menu selections: The menu is not extensive. It covers several rather common, basic Japanese dishes such as rice bowls, ramen, and udon. The Japanese fusion burgers do look delicious too. Price: All menu items are under $20. The only drawback is the serving sizes; for a Wagyu beef rice bowl that costs $18.90, I would expect a bigger serving. Food: Taste is decent but not outstanding. Quality is similar to what you’d get from food court. For the 3 of us we ordered Edamame, chicken dumplings, wagyu beef rice bowl, pork ramen, and had to order karaage chicken udon during the meal as the serving sizes were smaller than we expected. We finished the meal with matcha soft serves. Edamame was a big disappointment. It’s too salty and it’s redundant to fry them. Dumplings resemble the quality of frozen dumplings you could purchase from supermarkets. Save yourself the money. Pork ramen, Wagyu beef rice bowl and chicken karaage udon were all acceptable; they use authentic Japanese rice for the rice bowls which is a good, small surprise. Matcha soft serve was the best out of everything we ordered. The matcha flavour is balanced, you could taste a light bitterness without it being too sweet. The texture is smooth. It goes well with a waffle cone. Would return for their soft serves! Conclusion: I wanted to try this restaurant out as the photos looked really good. It’s one of a few Japanese dining places in the mall. If you are satisfied with just basic Japanese food, this place is still worth checking out.

Motto Motto is a casual contemporary Japanese restaurant with a range of fast food style Japanese at super reasonable prices. We’ve been to the Macquarie Shopping Centre restaurant before, but this time went to Castle Hill. Motto Motto have just opened a new store in Marrickville as well. You order at the counter or via their app and the food is promptly delivered to your table. Service is not only fast, but extra friendly and they do their absolute best to make you feel welcome. They use quality ingredients to prepare our favourite signature dishes such as poke bowls, ramen, udon and rice bowls topped with premium grade wagyu beef, sashimi grade salmon and tuna. We tried one of their rice bowls, the pork belly bowl on rice as well as a poke bowl; the kingfish, salmon and avocado bowl with edamame, salad, sushi rice, yuzu soy dressing. In addition we had one of their cloud rolls, aptly named, since biting into these milk buns is like walking on a cloud. This time we opted for the spicy karaage chicken, served on one of their buns with lettuce, tomato, red onion with chilli Japanese Mayo. Motto Motto have plenty of sides too such as edamame, gyoza, fries chicken karage, garden or potato salad and rice. We tried the delicious gyoza, karage and their amazing crinkle cut fries with wasabi salt. These are unreal and so moreish, we kept going in for more. Each dish ranges between $13 – $17 and you can make it a meal, with a drink and side for just $7.90 extra. They also serve soft drinks and alcohol. Be sure to check it out and we hope you enjoy too.
