Worst meal we've had in a long time.dishes very bland apart from the SALT and pepper squid which contained more sodium than the dead sea was too salty to eat. Dumplings were bland and slimy and even though they were cooked in chilli we still had to add sriracha to get any real flavour. Mains were brought without side dish before we got our second entree. Second entree was San Choy Bow, bland x 2 and served with lettuce leaves that were from the end of the lettuce and lucky to be 25mm wide, completely unfit for the purpose of depositing the totally bland meat mixture into. Not sure how it is possible to cook fried rice as bland as we were served, but suffice is to say that added soy sauce and sriracha served to make it palatable at best. At payment time we were not asked how our meal was and were treated to the extra bonus of a credit card surcharge that was added without notice. Not likely to ever return again.

Have to say this is one of the most average stores we have had from Taste of Shanghai /LiLing. LiLong is branded as the premium choice for shanghaines food. When the food is served, the portion is smaller than before but it's acceptable given the economic pressure. We prefer thr wuality anyway. But the taste has gone downhill...... Other than the soup dumplings, the rest of dishes were tasteless or missing 'wok hey'. For example the fried noodles were not properply stirred and fried (patches of dry and unevenly flavour, the fried rice was also not fried, some patches of white rice were still left within) The seating area was average despite the premium. Asked for thr chilli paste which many Shanghai restaurants offer but they don't have any. We still ate them but were left a bit unsatisfied. Unfortunately tare cheaper options nearby with better quality food and satisfaction.

The foods overall were nice, tasty (some are too salty), big portion. The salt and pepper tofu, crispy chicken were nice, but the crumbs were too salty. The yang chao fried rice was yummy and perfect. The Szechuan style spicy beef was great too, the taste and spicy level were perfect, I added the pancakes to wrap it, and it’s very good combination when the pancakes are still hot. The service was good, you have to take the number (paper) next to the door before you queue, the queue was long but not too long to wait till our number got called. We got table outside, and still good to have outside as the weather was not too cold. But it was a bit dark so not able to see the food clearly. Just a suggestion for the owner, probably provide water jugs so people don’t need to walk in and out just to take water. Overall the visit were good and would come again if I am around.

Have you ever decided what your favourite restaurant is? Out of the many restaurants I have come across, Linong is the most delicious restaurant I have been to. I believe the two most essential qualities of a restaurant is that the employees can serve customers politely and enthusiastically. Another imperative characteristic is the food being of a high standard so that people enjoy eating it instead of shoving everything in their mouths and want to vomit it out. Linong has displayed all these qualities flawlessly and is definitely by far the most delicious restaurant.

An essential feature of a fabulous restaurant is making the customers feel comfortable and have a good conversation. Linong excels in this feature perfectly and can tell the customer's personality and feeling as quickly as a flash. They will help you provide with anything you need. They will also recommend some sides like drinks and light meals like fried pork and cold seaweed dish. Linong's staff can make the customer feel delighted and relaxed after they finish the meal. All their hard work pays off with a mighty tip and money from the customers. This will make both the employees and customers and more feel more satisfied.

Another of Linong's outstanding attributes that makes it my favourite restaurant is the unforgettable taste of the food. I've always found the food quite tempting to eat even though I'm already packed and energised. The chefs are dedicated to making the food, and it is served rapidly. The presentation of the food is impressive even though the time given is relatively minimal. They look as though it is for the royal family, and the chefs are all professionals. The taste of the food is like a crunchy and crisp bite as it touches your teeth. A dish I personally enjoy is the xiao long bao. It is a type of dumpling but is slightly bigger. The xiao long bao would usually be larger; however, it is a smaller serving. It tastes fresh and provides many toppings on top, like sesame seeds. Linong's food is marvellous.

Finally, Linong is my most favourite restaurant because there is always available seating no matter the occasion. Unlike other restaurants, Linong is never packed and will politely apologise if there is no seating. If people are limited, you can sometimes even choose your table! Other restaurants are often lazy and lack energy and enthusiasm; however, Linong always has passion, no matter the problem.

Overall, Linong is one of the best restaurants I have experienced. While having friendly staff, delicious food and limited seatings, it has many more...

Castle Hill Taste of Shanghai. Ahh, where do I start? We came here to have dinner to celebrate my fathers 50th birthday and my brothers 16th birthday.

We came in hours before our booking to drop in the cake - which was obviously meant to be a surprise.

We arrived about 7 minutes late. As soon as we walked in the guy that looked like the owner exclaimed “Oh you guys are the ones we have the cake for! I thought I needed to keep the cake for tomorrow!” - not only exposing the entire surprise but also taking a dig at us for being slightly late.

Next, we were set in a VIP room as per our booking - we were 9 people all up. Near the start of the dinner, as we had started ordering food, the room we were put in starting smelling, like sewerage. I checked the main dining room and the other VIP room and they were not smelly. I asked to move rooms and explained why - which was fine, the staff helped us move our cutlery, plates and food to the other room. But then the owner came in and I asked him “Do you smell it too?” he replied “No. Seriously I don’t”. It was a distinct smell and it would ruin anyone’s dinner.

Then as the food came in, we asked for chilli paste, which we never received. I had to personally ask to get a jug of water - they didn’t set it on the table from the start.

Then, as we were eating, the staff start cleaning the room next to us, talking and laughing very loudly, which I wouldn’t mind if we were in the main dining area, however we were in a VIP room, which is meant to be our own space.

The next part is the actual surprise. I asked staff to bring the cake in. Which they did, however the way that they did it was in no way a surprise at all. First of all the staff that was cleaning up our table, asked us “Who’s birthday is it?”, next after the table was clean two employees walked in with the knife and also the cake box as well as the candles we gave them - talk about element of surprise. Then the cake finally came out! With one candle!! We had given them a pack of 12!! The staff did sing happy birthday with us and turned the lights off and that was actually sweet of them.

The employees seem very unaware and not well trained but they were not rude, there were times that they were listening and understanding what I was asking, but every time we spoke to the guy that seemed like the owner, he was very abrupt and brushed everything off, he was being very unkind and not accommodating.

The food was very good, but I won’t be coming back here again due to the customer service or...

We are regular diners at Taste of Shanghai in Castle hill because of the food. Customer service has always been terrible, we’re always having to ask more than once for everything. Today we ordered our usual favourites and made them clear on our dietary requirement and even wrote it clearly on the manual menu that you order your food through. As we received our food we noticed that whatever we had said not to add into the certain dishes due to our dietary requirement there were unusual large pieces of it in two of our dishes. Just to confirm I asked one of the waiters he said yes it is that. We just asked them calmly to replace it with one that doesn’t have it. After five minutes we saw someone with the same plate walking towards our table fuming with three other waiters. He seemed to be the owner and without any apologies he asked what was wrong with the dish. He started going through the plate we ordered and in a very disgusting and against the rules of hospitality he broke down the Ingredients and started literally yelling so what if there’s that particular Ingredient in it. In front of us he started yelling at his waiter as well in Chinese. At this point we wanted to leave the restaurant with our food untouched because everyone was staring at us. We paid and left because we were so disgusted and shocked with how we were treated.

I can confirm that all the staff in this restaurant treat anyone other than Asian ( Chinese in particular) customers rudely as majority of the reviews confirm this. I really hope they learn something from this and learn to respect their customers. This restaurant is in a multicultural area and they need to be aware and treat everyone...
