FLY COVERED SEAFOOD
I walked in here with my fiancé hoping to have a delicious seafood meal but unfortunately we were deterred after witnessing dozens of flies circulating the open seafood display. It was a very hot and sunny day and we were surprised to see the entire front seafood display was completely open for the flies to swarm all over the fresh seafood. Furthermore, the oysters were sitting in trays which were not properly laying in the ice and therefore could not have been keeping the oysters sufficiently cold.
I’m very concerned that this restaurant does not take health and safety seriously especially when it comes to seafood which should be meticulously stored for fear of food poisoning. When we calmly asked if there’s any seafood without flies on it the bald man whom looked to be the owner just said “NO” completely ignoring the situation and turning his back towards us. We were puzzled as no one addressed the obvious food safety concern we had.
We decided to go elsewhere and chose to write a review to warn others of the questionable food safety of this joint. Really a shame considering what a prime location it’s in and how busy they could be if only the staff and...
Read moreThe food was awful, even though we’ve had a better experience .. especially after we ordered an expensive meal. While observing the place, we noticed flies inside the window where the fish was kept. We informed the worker, but instead of removing the fish or fly he threw ice at the fly, which remained stuck in the window. When we received our meals, the fish was cooked on the outside but still cold and raw on the inside. We told the worker, and they recooked it. We couldn’t finish our meals because we were concerned, especially since our child was eating the same food.
We ended up getting food poisoning. My mother didn’t even make it home, and we had to stop several times on the way for her to throw up. Once we got home, both my child and I have been vomiting nonstop. I really hope something changes, and food is properly prepared...
Read moreThe prawns are made of either rubber or puke. Not sure which. The chips look and taste like they were cooked in used motor oil and are covered in bruises.
Update: 4 years later, at least the food wasn't burnt but the fish tasted like oil and flour. Eating the cheapest packaged fish from Woolies would have tasted better.. the chips were still disgusting. My kid was eating chips from Oporto, tried one of mine from here, spat it out, and told me how disgusting it was.
We paid $10 for this container with a fraction of a lettuce, half a tomato, a touch of cucumber, a few olives and feta pieces..
We also waited too long in line for our food to come out. It's NYE and they were unable to keep up. It looked like there were only two people cooking so no idea if it was a staffing issue or just trying...
