OMIYA — Restaurant in Sydney

I read some great reviews about this Japanese restaurant in the local Facebook page & decided to give it a go.

We enjoyed the teriyaki salmon bento set and the Special set which included udon and sushi.

The bento was very substantial and worthy of the price. You can’t see it in the photo but there were 3 generous pieces of teriyaki salmon perfectly cooked under the vegetables. The tempura was crispy and delicious. The sashimi was so fresh and tasty. The miso soup & wasabi were both home made which is rare and both full of flavour.

The udon broth was light but very tasty and the sushi was very nice.

The service was very friendly & efficient which added to all the positives with the food.

We will definitely be back and highly recommend this new...

🍣 Beautiful sushi and udon. Nice well-rounded Japanese menu. I didn't order a platter, but I saw one come out and they look spectacular and would make a fantastic night out.

💡 My only complaint (and I'm being picky) is the lighting is so bright! It feels like you're in an industrial cafeteria and the concrete floor and spartan walls don't help the vibe. I think it would be a lovely date night restaurant, but the lighting.

My honest review here is as follows: miso soup 10/10, seaweed 10/10, salmon sushi 10/10, teriyaki beef 6/10 as it was way too salty. There’s no A/C in the dine in area & on a hot day like today it was unpleasant due to lack of airflow, a ceiling fan would be a minimum for summer. Prices seem competitive.
