I've been buying Sonoma bread from local fruit shop in Glebe. I called Sonoma Bakery this morning to ask if the packaging can be recycled. The shop staff said she didn't know, I said it would be good for staff to know as they sell alot of bread and important to support sustainability. The woman said the packaging just gets thrown in the bin at the Glebe Sonoma store and gave me the number for head office to find out. When I asked her to repeat the number as it was difficult to interpret from her accent she became defensive said 'sorry for being Asian' and hung up on me. I called their head office, the woman there was helpful, and apologised for the staff member in Glebe - said the plastic has to be cut out and the paper can be recycled in yellow bin. I'm only going to buy in future if there's nothing else around just due to the store service and sustainability - it's a flooded bread market customer service and promoting sustainability...
Read moreIt’s just devastating to see a company that had discovered the recipe of good bread, good service, fair price, excellent systems and business model go and follow the trend of “oh sorry, cost of business has gone up, we can’t make delicious fresh sandwiches today but here’s some ugly ones on the rack that we made earlier, which will cost more than last week, Next Please”. It seems like a lot of the older businesses are making excuses while the new ones have to be competitive and do great stuff. Sonoma bread is still bloody amazing so I can’t rate too harshly, but to see something so good go downhill so rapidly, to me, deserves a good think about the feedback, the model, and the necessary adaptation. Hope sonoma comes out on the other side of the current challenges, which by the way are nowhere near as challenging in Australia...
Read moreHave normally had a pretty good experience here, but there does seem to be staff turnover & this morning was terrible. So terrible I walked away without my coffee or food that I’d paid for as unsurprisingly in the morning I had to get to work. I ordered when no one was waiting inside or out & there was 3 people sitting, yet they did everything out of order and I’m standing there 10 mins watching them serve person after person without doing my order. When I raised it there was no acknowledgement of the delays and the attitude was clearly we’ll get too yours soon. Terrible, I’ll take my business across the road where they treat customers as something they value...
