The food is actually good and the prices are ok for what you get. The food seems to be very much food of a chain restaurant - well photographed, looks exactly like the menu and has some personality but not too much. But the experience was so disappointing.
However its a 2* not because of the food, but because of poor service and an inability to make up for it. So here's the story - it consists of a few things adding up: waiter forgetting menus initially for a couple of minutes, then brings them over and later takes our order. Note that he never repeated our order, and the person who delivered the food left without asking if we had everything we needed (2 / 3 people on the table have a meal.. probably a good time to ask the question right?) So then after the other meals have been delivered, my burger doesn't arrive so I call the waiter and ask. turns out it never was put in and will take 8-10 minutes. "Do you still want it?" Obviously, I want it, i'm still hungry... "yes please could you put it through" i say. after a couple of minutes i realise this is unfair. i call the manager and tell him the story, expecting to get it removed from our bill or at least 50% discounted. He says no because "it's already gone through the system". Excuse me? I had to keep asking him a few times if there was anything he can do because I don't think its acceptable to pay full price for this experience - if I"m paying $20 for a burger it better be at the level of Bar Luca. So he very reluctantly says he'll give us 10% or 15% off (I can't remember specifically as its a couple of weeks ago). Still very disappointing but I take it. When I get to the entrance to pay, everything is full price... so then I have to explain my whole story AGAIN, then call the manager, and have to remind him myself that he promised me a discount. Note that the manager had already walked past the cashier and was hearing me tell my story but didn't want to acknowledge it until I requested him to come over and asked him point blank to tell the cashier about the discount. He (the manager) tries to explain that it was a trainee, and that he's still learning (so essentially he wants me to excuse the mistakes). I say that if he's a trainee, then it's still your fault if he's not doing a good job because you didn't train him properly. Nothing to do with the trainee. After ALL THAT i got the Sunday surcharge removed and 10-15% off the bill.
Now normally people would just write a bad review and be done with it. I tried to do the right thing and talk to the manager on the spot but he wanted to make excuses and not live up to the promise of the discount. This is my first time at a Rashay's. Why would I ever recommend anyone to go there or eat there...
Read moreI am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a highly disappointing experience I had at your Rashays restaurant on21-01 Tuesday . I have been a loyal customer for over seven years, regularly visiting your Rhodes location, but this recent incident has left me deeply dissatisfied with the service provided.
After finishing my meal, I went to the cashier to pay. The cashier in question, a lady named Nita, was unprofessional and rude in her dealings with me. I had to repeat my phone number more than three times for her to enter it correctly, which visibly caused frustration on her part. Despite my attempts to remain patient and understanding, her demeanor became increasingly dismissive.
When I asked about the membership discount I was entitled to, she responded abruptly, stating there was no discount available without offering any explanation. She then asked if I had "spin the wheel" but failed to inform me about the promotion beforehand. When I expressed that I wasn’t aware of the wheel, she continued to be uncooperative. I eventually clarified that I was asking about the regular member discount, and after much unnecessary tension, she provided me with a receipt that reflected the discount—but only after tossing it at me and saying, "there."
At this point, I felt compelled to address her rude behavior and mentioned that I, as a paying customer, expected to be treated with respect. Her response was to tell me to "stop talking." This left me feeling humiliated and frustrated. I also asked for her name, but she refused to provide it and simply shook her head. It was only after another staff member stepped in to resolve the situation that I was told her name was Nita.
To add to the discomfort, Nita continued to glare at me from behind the coffee machine, further adding to my unease. I was embarrassed not only for myself but also for the other customers who were waiting to pay. While I understand the challenges of communicating in English when it is not your first language, the level of rudeness and lack of professionalism displayed by Nita was completely unacceptable.
As someone who has been a loyal patron of Rashays for many years, I am extremely disappointed with the way I was treated during this visit. I hope this letter serves as constructive feedback, and I trust you will take the appropriate actions to ensure that future customers are treated with the respect and courtesy they deserve.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the steps that will be taken to...
Read moreSo my fiancée and I went tonight and was served by a lady who told us we had to sit outside because all the tables inside were reserved. Many tables at the time not actually being used and weren't used for the hour that we were there.
Anyway we sat and were given menus which my fiancée and I looked through and decided very quickly what to have. We then waited for over 5 minutes before I got up to wave down the waitress which she came to take our order. Without even writing it down she perfectly told our orders back to us.
About 10 minutes later our food came out first but not the starter that we ordered. My steak came with Onion rings which I can't eat due to an intolerance and had said I can't have onion rings.
The Schnitty parmigiana my fiancée had was ok and she would say its a 5 out of 10. My New York steak was a 2 out 10 which tasted horrible. My fiancée also finished her drink and wanted another one to which the waitress was outside cleaning up. Not once did she look up at us down the opposite end of the outside section and she had no clue I tried to wave her down without yelling out nor did anyone come to check up on us.
Anyway when paying I explained this to the lady at the counter and was give 10% off and a free drink plus some other vouchers for next time if we go back (hopefully can be used at Mount Druitt Rashsays). She was so understanding and was happy to hear our complaint and understand how we felt.
My fiancée and I chose rashays cause we had been other rashays which we like a lot and thought Rhodes Rashsays would be good too. Now 9:30pm affer not eating anything else tonight I'm at home and I had to run for the bathroom. I was vomiting my steak and chips up.
If you do see this make sure the waitress who was outside at 6pm should be talked to and notified of how we felt and how rude she was. Both my fiancée and I have worked in customer service and know exactly how to treat customers and the service we got wasn't what we expected.
Thankyou though for the vouchers and 10% off. I appreciate this but will be sticking to the Rashsays we trust which I first started going for dinner every now and...
