Sir Reuben Rozelle: A Sydney Legend, Just Like Katz's! Forget flying to New York – Sydney's very own Sir Reuben in Rozelle is serving up a pastrami experience that rivals even the legendary Katz's Deli. From the moment you step in, there's that same comforting buzz, a lively hum of happy diners anticipating a serious sandwich. And serious it is. The pastrami here is, simply put, perfection. Each slice is incredibly tender, bursting with that smoky, peppery flavour that only comes from expert curing and slow cooking. It's piled high, just like at Katz's, ensuring every bite is a glorious mouthful of meat. The rye bread is perfectly substantial, holding up beautifully to the generous filling, and the sauerkraut provides that essential tangy crunch, cutting through the richness in all the right ways. Just like Katz's has its iconic "I'll have what she's having" moment, Sir Reuben creates its own unforgettable memories. The service is fast, friendly, and efficient, ensuring you get your pastrami fix without delay, and the whole atmosphere is just brimming with that authentic deli charm. If you're searching for a pastrami sandwich that transports you straight to deli heaven, look no further than Sir Reuben. It's truly a five-star experience and a Sydney institution in the making!

Read moreThis is a local for me. The food can be hit or miss but what bothers me most is the rude staff, in particular Harry who I think is the cafe manager. He is incredibly rude to customers I don’t know how he gets away with it. For example, once I ordered one of their sandwiches and asked for the bread to be gluten free as I have Celiac disease. He wasn’t even taking my order, he was on the side making coffees, but he felt the need to butt in and mock my order asking “ why would you bother to order a Reuben on gluten free bread?” He was dead serious, it wasn’t a friendly joke. The young server who was taking my order was so confused and the young man was lovely. But seriously does this older man working at a cafe not understand that people have different tastes, needs, and food allergies and intolerances. It doesn’t take much to be kind to a customer. If he can’t manage that he should stay away from...
Read moreI had such high hopes for this, but was actually pretty underwhelmed. I found that each element of the Mr Pig sandwich was underseasoned and so the whole experience was quite bland. The meat had a great texture but was very mild in flavour, none of that delicious porky fatness. The slaw was creamy but also very mild. The bread was quite nice, soft with a bit of chew.
The coffee was nice enough, the staff were friendly, and the prices are what you'd expect in the area. I would probably give them another go, because I do really like the concept. Perhaps the titular Reuben is the sandwich to go...
