My husband and I were blown away by the food today, it was a la carte food, as I had prawns spaghetti with bread crumbs on the top and it tasted sensational - I only paid $29 and if I went to an italian restaurant it would be around $40 or more but the taste was fabulous, my husband had Croque Monsieur petite salad, chips and said it is the best one he has ever tasted and only $23 - plan to visit it more, as I am a foodie but I have never tasted such great pub food in my life - I can not wait to try Manu’s restaurant, as I went to his restaurant in Paddington and his food blew me away, so tasty and so good - he is an outstanding chef and I am so glad he has another restaurant, I have all his recipes book and I have cooked so many of his recipes plus desserts and they are outstanding. I am 76 years old now and I am still cooking till I drop but I had a photo taken with him, in the Paddington restaurant for my birthday and my husband stood on his foot by accident, but he has a great personality and a great sense of humour. To be able to get great food like this for the price, is a rarity but also Manus restaurant upstairs is very reasonably priced as well, and I know he could charge more but he hasn’t, so looking forward to trying his restaurant eventually and hopefully I will meet...

Fantastic pub BUT - read on…. The whole pub has a sensational atmosphere. Beautifully decorated with fascinating items and artwork. It’s a huge pub so plenty of table types and in all senses well appointed. TV screens to watch sport and plenty of room for big get together. This truly is one of the best pubs I’ve seen. We ate at the bistro upstairs and this was our mistake. The food downstairs significantly better- it’s the same story pubs do pub food better. The bistro had the usual 2 hour time spots. From the moment we sat down we were quite aggressively hassled to order, the waiter stood over us at the table about drinks. Two of us ordered two entrees each and our partners ordered mains each and sided so we weren’t skimping. The food very average. The entree salad with truffle was good but the French onion soup was far too sweet. The scollop roll very well presented but tasted ordinary. The pork chop ok and the steak very good. Chips good and butter lettuce fresh and nice . Bathrooms awesome and parking ok. The food downstairs is much cheaper and better. Great pub for get together with friend and family. Bistro upstair forget a date it is like a fast food feel get them in get them out!!! Love your local guide♥️ Please follow me I appreciate...

This pub is quite literally what you should expect on the other side of the pearly gates. The staff (I wouldn’t even call them staff anymore they’re more like family) are incredible; charming, hilarious, beyond well-skilled, and nothing short of perfection. The pub itself is a work of art, I would skip the Sistine Chapel to attend The Red Lion (a marvel of engineering and architecture). The management should be running not only the country, but the new world order. The food is beyond anything I could’ve imagined humanity could do with the ingredients that Mother Nature and science could provide. If I could chose a venue for every event in my life including but not limited to my marriage and the birth of my children it would be The Red Lion. The only issue I have with this pub is that I cannot spend my entire life within its walls with no reprieve.

Thank you to whatever god there is for...

We frequently attend the Tuesday night trivia with a large group of friends, and we all thoroughly enjoy both the food, atmosphere and experience! The pub has a fantastic, homely decor with a very cosy, large open indoor area with a live fireplace, arcade cabinet tables and big comfy chairs. Perhaps a bit dusty, but it adds to the heritage charm. We absolutely loved the fried chicken pieces, the pie, and the chicken parmigiana! Every dish was hot and crispy, and very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity! The chicken pieces were crispy and well battered, delicious and tender, and were certainly a highlight on the menu! The parmi was well cooked throughout and was very tasty on every bite. The food, trivia and atmosphere all combine together for an enjoyable charm and great place to stop and enjoy dinner on a weekday evening!

Honestly one of the worst meals of my life! Absolutely horrible! We could only laugh when the Charcuterie Board came to the table. Menu vs Reality...Cured meats-Cheap shaved ham and Mortadella, Local cheeses-half a slice of Tasty Cheese, Focaccia- ok that was focaccia two strips toasted. piccalilli- a spoon full of 333 Mustard pickles, grissini-cheap supermarket breadsticks broken and scatter on the plate. Other dishes included the calamari that was like eating rubber bands but rubber bands have more flavour. The Gravy that was obviously Gravox but they tried to add some spice which made it worse and the coleslaw was rancid! I thought I was on candid camera and someone was plying a joke on us!
