Subway Ultimo — Restaurant in Sydney

Its 10:30, it's been a long day, me and my boyfriend decide we won't cook tonight, we'll get subway instead. But they're all closed, luckily Broadway subway is open till 11. Our expectations are low, it's almost closing time and they probably want to be in bed just as bad as us. We arrive, a young man named Reno asks what bread we'd like with a smile. Italian herbs and cheese thanks. I knew by the precision of his bread cutting that this was going to be a good sub. Toasted to perfection, salad filling lined up with quick accuracy, I could go on but you get the idea. It was late and we were greeted with the enthusiasm of me after my first morning coffee. After all the subways we have visited in our time around the world, this 10:38pm sub was the best we had ever had. We have been back since then and Reno is constant with his sandwich art. Even though I was the only person inside the lady working prioritised efficiency over customer satisfaction.

They did not heat up my chicken schnitzel before toasting it and so it was cold when I ate it and ruined my experience. The cheese was placed haphazardly and stacked on top of each other and not spread out evenly at all which meant that some of it didn’t melt properly and along with the cold chicken was just a terrible experience.

She was very abrupt, didn’t say hi and looked down the whole time and rushed through asking me what I wanted on my sub.

She didn’t seem to care at all about the job.

Was really disheartening to see and by far the worst experience I’ve had at a subway...

I'm not an absolute fan of subway but hey, this place is pretty good for a quick food grab that isn't overly expensive in-between uni classes. Make sure you know what you want before you line up though because it gets busy and cramped really quick. Service was quick, and pressured so don't expect a "have a good day" or "enjoy your meal" or anything. Which is fine - I'm only thinking about my 10,000 assignments anyway.

Don't have a good photo of the actual food, but hey - those oversized bags are both cool because you look like you're walking around with a big French baguette but also kind of annoying because it's harder to sneak into the library for a 6...
