I've only been here twice so far but I already know it's a hidden gem...there truly is something for everyone, even your pickiest friends or family members in terms of their food + beverage tastes and much like how fate works, I was introduced by a friend during a late night hangout at the end of 2024. But I know that from here on I'll be a loyal patron & an advocate for this place as it speaks to my upbringing with uber-health conscious parents & growing up during my formative years in a family hospitality business. You don't tend to hear about a lot of Chinese Tea Culture in this day + age especially in the maze that is Sydney and it's a place I'd highly encourage people who don't reside in Sydney to note down Tea Journal as somewhere that truly is a place unlike no other. I'm unsure if the place farms their own tea or if they support vulnerable communities in the tea provinces of China but either way you won't regret checking it out. Be it as a hangout with someone else , a group setting or a way to treat yourself, it's totally up to your discretion what you use this little brunch spot for. All the staff are lovely, professional & they're very passionate about what they do. It's delightfully paradoxical in the sense that it is a social yet also private place. Best to come off peak eg during weekdays and before school knocks off

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tea Journal, located in the Chatswood Interchange, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The moment I walked in, I was immediately struck by the wonderful ambience and atmosphere of the place. The lighting was just right, the decor was tasteful and inviting, and the overall vibe was relaxing and comfortable. Speaking of the location, Tea Journal couldn't be more conveniently situated in the heart of the Chatswood interchange. Whether you're on your way to catch a train or just passing through, it's the perfect spot to stop and enjoy a delicious meal or a refreshing cup of tea. And speaking of the food and drink, I highly recommend you experience dining in at Tea Journal. The menu offers a great selection of dishes that are both healthy and delicious. And let me tell you, their tea game is on point! I love how they serve their tea - it's brewed to perfection and presented in a way that makes you feel truly special. Overall, I would definitely recommend Tea Journal to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Chatswood. Whether you're in a rush or have time to spare, this place is a must-visit. So go ahead and treat yourself to a lovely meal or a delightful cup of tea - you won't regret it!

We've been keen to check Tea Journal out after walking past a few times and checking online reviews. After arriving at the front of the store, we were quite impressed with the unique vibe which the entire place exudes of given the strong focus on tea and even calligraphy. Whilst waiting to be seated, we ended up chatting to a customer of Tea Journal sitting near the front counter who recommended that we try the Black Tea Rose & Pistachio cake ($15), so we ordered that along with a hot Hojicha latte and Matcha latte (both amended to soy milk). The overall taste was subtle but not mindblowingly impressive. The cake was presented well, with a moist and fresh cake layer but there was a heavy usage of cream on the outside. As a result, in our opinion it wasn't really worth the $15 price tag. The drinks were also presented well, but the taste was so-so (which a few other reviews have already noted). Overall, still worth checking this place out if you're a fan of all things tea and want to try something which is guaranteed to be not too heavy on the palate.

I have visited this cafe over a dozen times and usually have a good experience, but today was disappointing. When I arrived around 12pm, there was one customer ahead of me at the counter. After serving them, the staff member walked away without acknowledging me. Eventually, she returned and said “wait a moment," then went back to doing other tasks. I understand that she is busy and I am more than happy to wait, but the lack of acknowledgment and her attitude were really put me off.

After placing my order, there was only one available table, which had not been cleaned and had used plates and tissues on it. While delivering cake to the table next to me, she did not clear my table. When she later brought my drink, I asked if she could clear it and wipe it down.

About five minutes later, she suddenly returned with a spray cleaner and started spraying the table without warning. I had placed my book on a clean section of the table next to my drink, and before I could move my things she already sprayed the table. I immediately reached to move my book out of the way but it was too late and book’s cover and page edges were already wet. Some spray likely landed in my drink as well. She also did not bother to wipe the whole table, only the half close to her and left visible stains near me.

I can overlook the poor customer service issues initially and even the delay in cleaning the table, but basic courtesy like asking me to move my belongings before spraying, would have made a...
