Saturday, 11/11/2017 Food 5* Atmosphere 5* Place 5* Service 5* Price 5*
My son craved for Japanese Ramen and I couldn't refuse the request today.
He wanted different Ramen restaurant than what he usually go. So I ask him to do Google Map research for Japanese Ramen restaurant nearby.
So he came across Hakata-Maru Ramen and the review sounds promising, 4.4* from 105 reviews, not bad at all. This place's rating is even better than Ichiban Boshi. Anyway we decided to have lunch here.
Located near Chatswood Train Station. We parked at Westfield Chatswood for 3 hours free parking, enough time for lunch and still another hour for something else.
We ordered 3 dishes: Hakata-Maru Signature Ramen; Black Ramen; and Katane Bao
All dishes were delicious. Ramen noodles were one of the best we've eaten. The broth was rich and thick, just as we like it for a tonkotsu ramen. The char-siu were all tender and great portion. Katane Bao was mouth watering, the pork belly melts together with the lettuce and the bun in your mouth, giving you a sensation that's how a bao should taste.
The place is not big but it's cosy. It's a place set for younger generation and young families.
Their service was good, they accommodate our needs for a different table. The staffs are friendly and very welcoming.
The only thing is the price. Although their pricing is set on the higher side... I still find the restaurant value for money have been achieved... And will definitely come back.
Hope you all enjoy the review. Have a...
Read moreI went to Hakata-Maru around 5:45 pm. At the beginning, the waitress with semi-blonde/black long hair treat me respectively and conducted me to the big table (could seat 8-10 people). At that time there were only FIVE customers in the restaurant and I did not want to seat closely to a lady. So I moved one seat further in order to get more space. Then the semi-blonde/black kong hair waitress used her index finger point to the menu (on the table ) and said: " This is your seat and you can't seat here !". I asked her why and she replied:"more customers will come later and you are affect my arrangement !". "There are too many seats available now and even if there is a large group of customer come in they can seat other large tables" I replied. She insisted that I have to sit what she told me without any respect and I followed. I ordered the Shoyu Chashu ramen and tasted nothing special than any food court ramen. ONE BIG THING I need to mention is they use something called "BONE POWDER" with hot water to create their ramen broth rather than using real bones cooking for hours to minimize their cost. They should feel disgraceful about cheating on customers. I really have no idea guys says" this is the best ramen I have ever had etc." Probably they have never been to Japan and eat real ramen. I would recommend Manpuku Chatswood, Ryo's north Sydney and Yasaka CBD if you guys wanna try good quality ramen. Overall, this is a place waitress does not know how to treat customers respectively with FAKE...
Read moreMediocre food with a bad customer service. We've been to the restaurant 3 times and I hope that it will be the last time.
One weekend, the place was full so we were asked to wait, but my daughter was hungry. So, we asked if we can take-away a ramen. They said, they do not offer take-aways... mmm? So, we have no choice, but to look for another restaurant.
Another weekend, we were having lunch, but unfortunately we ran out of time. So we ask if we can take-away their tea ice cream. Again, they said that they do not offer take-away and opted to cancel the order than find an option to provide what the customer needs.
Two thing that comes to my mind:
One, they put something on the food that they do not want people to know.
Two, they feel very special that their food can only be eaten at their restaurant. Never mind Customer Service. "We are special, if you want our food then you will wait however long it takes, but you can't take it home.", "What is customer service? You can't demand customer service from us, these are our set of rules and we will not bend even if it means giving you a quality service.", "If you don't want it, we don't want you too - go away."
Where Voice of the Customer leads to quality and innovation, clearly they're going the...
