My group of friends drink in this bar on average 1-2 times a month as we really love it, however the experience we had last night was nothing short of appauling behaviour and service from what we assumed to be the manager? An Australian woman average heigh with dark glasses who was extremely rude to myself & the wider group.
There were around twenty two of us in a group, which is a pretty large group on a Tuesday night without a booking which I fully understand however it was a last minute plan as we had just got engaged. We picked the Bay as like I mentioned we love it & regularly drink & eat here. I would say on average most people spent anywhere from $50-100 as everyone was eating and majority of people had anywhere from 3-6 drinks. If I owned a venue and around 22 people were spending around $2k in my venue on a random Tuesday night, I would be more than happy? However what seemed to be the manager firstly was super rude to the group as we were trying to find tables (we split between two of the larger tables in the front bar) shruggling past us as if we were a total inconvience to her... I would have been able to see past this only for what happened next.
Before the kitchen closed I ordered myself & my partner food as I was so busy talking to everyone in celebration mode I forgot to order food earlier. I noticed my partners burger arrived but my meal had not come out yet, I didn't think much of it until about 10-15 minutes later I went up to the bar and explained to the bar staff that my meal had not arrived. The managers response was 'and you are only telling us now?!' which I was pretty confused about as she made me feel like it was my mistake. She seemed frustrated, shurggled her shoulders and said the kitchen was closed. That is when I said to her she had been nothing but rude to our group all night, making me feel like it was my fault. She explained she had a 'busy night', which I think goes hand in hand working in hospitality and again, not really my fault. She was so rude, instead of offering food or a refund blankly said the kitchen was closed. She started to look up the order on her till and questioned me did I order wrong which again was pretty insulting, I was pretty embarrased for her, so said don't worry about a refund and sat down at my table laughing at how extremely rude she had just been. she then proceeded to SHOUT across the bar to our table that she was trying to 'resolve the issue' which she really didn't do a great job at.
The worst part, five minutes later she walked over to our table and slammed a $20 note on the table infront of me without any kind of an apology. Absolutely shocking behaviour from which I assume was the manager.
I have noticed in some of your reviews, you have watched the CCTV footage back? Please do yourself a favour and watch this back and play it to your wider staff on HOW NOT TO TREAT PAYING REGULAR CONSUMERS.
We will definitely be taking our trade elsewhere moving forward. Absolutely shocking and a real downer on our last minute engagement drinks in a bar we...

We visited this pub for what we hoped would be a relaxing evening with our families, only to be met with some of the worst customer service we’ve ever encountered. Our husbands arrived early (4 PM), we joined at 5:30 PM, and there were two free tables—one had a sign for a 7 PM booking, so we respectfully ensured our kids would be done and off the table before then.
But at 6:30 PM—a full 30 minutes before the booking—the manager decided to force our children off the table mid-meal, clearing their plates aggressively and literally brushing crumbs onto them as they were still eating. Let me repeat that—clearing the table while children were actively trying to finish their food. Unbelievable.
Then, she came for the second table, the one we were sitting at—which had no reservation sign at all. Despite this, she rudely told us we had to move while we were still eating. When we pointed out that the table had not been marked as booked and our meals had only just arrived, she escalated her rudeness, insisted we leave, and continued glaring at us for the rest of the night.
And the best part? The people who had allegedly booked the table never even turned up. So, we were harassed, rushed through our meals, and treated like a problem—for absolutely nothing.
The level of hostility, incompetence, and sheer lack of basic hospitality from this manager is astonishing. A pub is supposed to be a welcoming space where customers are respected, not bullied out of their seats. If this is how they treat families who are paying good money to dine there, then they don’t deserve the business.
AVOID. There are plenty of places that actually value their customers—this isn’t...
Read moreI joined a large group of friends at The Bay on Sunday afternoon for a farewell get together for a friend moving south, having not been here before, i enjoyed the location and intially took it at face value, But after being here for half an hour it seemed obvious to myself and our whole party that everything was just too much trouble for the bar staff, we had a young family join us with young children soon after arriving so straight away we were ushered from our front window seats into the side bar, being a large group we tried to arrange tables for our group the best we could which was now near 20 people all buying drinks & meals, we were told that this was an issue after ten minutes of sitting there and had to all get up whilst staff moved furniture to accommodate us, the bar staff continued to keep tabs on us for the remainder of the afternoon, asking again if we would be stopping for dinner as they would need the space, then again nearer 5pm got us all up again whilst they rearranged tables for the third time so we were all pushed down into one corner, shortly after being made to move for a third time myself and my partner left. It struck me that if the bar staff were just a little more curtious and had paided more attention to patrons that were actually there instead of obsessing over possible people who may arrive and want the space, we could all of had a more pleasant afternoon. Great location, good feel, cold beer which is what you want from a waterfront pub but if the bar staff were just little less uptight you would feel alot more...
