I was hesitating to review this place but after yesterday I had to.. First time I came here 2023 march food was too good ordered king crab fell in love. Big portion great price Went again about sept 2024 food was amazing big portion went by my self even and raved about it to my friends and family Brought my best friend first time food was good portion size enough for 2 Brought my friend second time 2024 Oct 24 food was good portion size was enough for 1 person it was too small not enough for 2 I spoke to the manager and was basically ignored she said it’s how it is even the ones was not cooked. I got offered drinks instead of seafood when I said I want how I usually get it! I paid walked out I brought my partner yesterday after a long 3 days of work in the city hungry all day I said we can drive to boiling crab the portion size was so small even he was shocked from it because the last time we came it was more I said if you still hungry we can order more he said no this isn’t right don’t worry we can eat and go. We got to the counter the manager recognises me now because of the amount of times I go and we at the register and my partner asked her how come the portions are smaller and she started saying they go by kilo or what ever I was transferring the funds and she kept arguing with my partner all he was saying was put the price up $5 and add more seafood again people would be happy and as a business owner our self we know. She just kept arguing and looked annoyed so I had to say as the Manager she should argue back and speak like that it’s feed back because she can clearly say we always come back and I being different people with me mind you it’s over 1 hour drive for me to come there. When showing staff and manager these pictures she does not justify the issue! Don’t get my wrong the taste is amazing the the food is good. But sometimes you get a good amount for ur money for 2 other times it’s a rip off and it’s not right I’ll show photos Take customer feed back because I won’t be returning unless I see a change!

The restaurant resembled a nice welcoming family chain restaurant you use to grow up with and the staff were all friendly and accomodating. We ordered the King Crab Combo $140 which consisted of two clusters of king crab legs followed by all the inclusions of the combo which included, prawns, scampi, pippis, green mussels, baby octopus and crawfish. We got to pick to sides so chose the corn cob and potato. We chose their popular cajun sauce and had the medium spice level but was warned that this was quite spicy on several occasions. The dish came in a plastic bag and poured onto the table. We got a pair of gloves which were surprising tough and a bib. We noticed immediately that the spice level was near our maximum and we both can eat spicy so it was perfect. We were also surprised that each seafood was cooked quite well (although) probably boiled but having them all coming together; there was a fear that some of the delicate seafood would be overcooked but this was not the case. All the seafood was well cooked so we could taste the sweetness of the meat but we did not like the green mussels as they were tough and sandy. They should have used black mussels. The service was very good and they gave us a nice table for our booking which was nice because most places in Sydney will give you a crap table even if you book these days. The value is a little questionable as the meal came to $188 with 3 drinks and in that price territory you start to compare what else you could have instead but it was a good experience and no complaints for the meal we had.

Finally, it’s here!! The best seafood restaurant has made its way to Sydney! If anyone has read my previous reviews, there was one that served as the reference point for the similar restaurants that I have tried in Sydney over the last 5 years, and The Boiling Crab was it. This restaurant has been my top for over a decade now, and now I do not have to wait years in between to dine at the place that started my love for this style of eating seafood. I was a little late to realise that they had opened here in Sydney, even though there were talks of an opening, otherwise, I would have come on their first day! I came to celebrate an anniversary, and could not have asked for a better Sunday dinner. A little different to the ones in California, menu-wise (unless things have also changed there), but still the same fulfilling, delectable experience and flavours. The Whole Sha-bang sauce is one that cannot be beaten and always holds that spot in the heart of my stomach!!! It went well with my Michelada, another one that I have not had often of late. Service was awesome too 💜. With the extreme traffic and a booking for 6 pm, I was quite worried this would affect our booking, however the staff reassured us with every call, that our table would be waiting for us. I do not expect they can always do this, but was very grateful they did. They were all very friendly and checked in during our dinner. I cannot wait for the next meal here.
