The Butcher's Block — Restaurant in Sydney

Conveniently located around 5 minutes walking time from Granville railway station, The Butcher's Block offers a relaxed dining experience, with nice decor and exceptional customer service.

We arrived around Midday, and were met by a member of the wait staff who directed us to our table. Moments later the menus arrived, and then the glasses of water, which were kept topped up during our meal. Our waiter even offered to take a photo of us with my phone. After examining the menu, we opted for the Lamb Shoulder to share, and a serving of Sweet Potato Fries. For drinks we got a Pear and Cinnamon Smoothie, and a " Bloody Block " cocktail.

Our drinks arrived quickly, the Pear and Cinnamon Smoothie was delightful, the pear and cinnamon flavours were noticeable, without being overpowering. I had a few sips of my partner's drink, it had a nice combination of sweet and sour flavour notes. Both drinks were provided with paper straws, the type that actually allow you to consume your drink, and not the ones that collapse or disintegrate after the first sip.

After a short wait our meal arrived at our table, we were pleasantly surprised at the sheer volume of food. Steak knives were provided for the Lamb Shoulder, but we could almost have used spoons to eat it, it was just that tender. It redefined the term "falls off the bone". The flavour of the lamb was accentuated with ginger spiced rub. The chips that were included with the lamb were crisp and well cooked, as were the Sweet Potato Fries that we also ordered.

We had a very enjoyable dining experience, all of the food was delicious, and the customer service was on point, attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommended, we will definitely...

Could the inception of Butchers Block be the genesis of fine dining in Granville?!

The past week I’ve been eyeing out this ‘sore thumb’ of a business that has been sticking out on South Street. I was taken aback by the general aesthetic of the restaurant. It was very contemporary/modern, classy, a little rustic but very un-granvillesque. Immediately when you step foot inside it’s almost as if you’ve been transported 30km East of here, the ambience of the place is quite relaxed and smooth which almost completes the picture.

Our waitress was very warm and friendly. She was attentive and conversed with us at brief moments. The menu she handed us had an eclectic selection of food that I would never have imagined on the same menu. Selections like: Steak tartare, Pork Katsu Burger and Fattoush.

I had a ribeye steak (medium rare) with mashed potatoes. The steak was definitely cooked to my absolute liking, it was juicy, creamy and had a very gorgeous sear to it. It was seasoned so well I didn’t need to use any salt or pepper to enhance the flavour. My friends enjoyed their meals as well.

Although it was quite heavy on the pocket, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Considering this place is in the heart of Granville, I unfortunately don’t see a strong customer base for a restaurant of this caliber.
